Today we’d like to introduce you to Rodney Swift.

Hi Rodney, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
From Drinker to Dreamer, Rodney Swift
became a force in the music industry as an Independent Label Owner, Music Publisher, Executive Producer, A&R, Artist Manager , Consultant & Brand Developer.

In 2018 He officially started his independent label SWIFTRECORDS Publishing. Releasing “Growing Pains” by his artist and son Ryan, aka Ruggo, who went by Yung Rugged at the time.

Rodney, Once known as R.Sheerer, batted addiction with alcohol for most of his younger years. At the age of 14 he began drinking alcohol to escape the ptsd caused by childhood trauma and exposure to excessive violence in the household which eventually led his parents to part ways.

His mother with roots in Sylmar Ca moved him and his brother to their grandparents home. His younger brother and mother would soon move again leaving Rodney to be raised by his Maternal Grandparents.

Throughout his teen years he began to get into significant trouble which would eventually lead him to have many negative run ins with authorities.

In 2014 after numerous arrests, hospitalizations and mental ward confinements, and with a looming DCFS case, Rodney took a step in a different direction by simply, taking direction.

After learning of his son’s talent, and with no prior knowledge or industry connections, he decided to take matters into his own hands & invest in themselves.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As an independent label you are responsible for all roles that multiple people play when signed to a major label. Some of the struggles were that I had to learn how to play many different positions and understand that when you FAIL, it’s actually your (First Attempt In Learning) so you find another way and repeat until you reach your level of success.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
SwiftRecords is known for working with and developing up and coming artists in the music business. Having built a solid foundation and relationship with within the industry with multi platinum Grammy award producers as well as engineers power managers and pr firms.

With his background being as such, Rodney has many ties to the streets as well. “Coming from where i came from, when i came from, you had to move with a level of respect that your life could depend on.”
