Check Out Robert Longo’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Longo.

Robert Longo

Robert, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was working in the mobile phone industry for ten years. Completely unsatisfied creatively, I started looking into making movies as a director. I was inspired by a culmination of photos and TV Shows to just do it. I wrote my first horror feature film, “Slaughterhouse” except I couldn’t get it sold as I didn’t have an agent, and I couldn’t shoot it myself because it would have been far too expensive. I decided to write something that I could shoot and was more where the market was going. I created wrote and directed Vixens of Virtue which was a timely hit direct to DVD and Amazon Prime Streaming. This was right before the Marvel cinematic universe, Buffy the Vampire Slayer had come out of syndication, and there was a welcome rise in female involvement as fans within the comic book industry. Vixens of Virtue with its micro-budget campy feel resonated from coast to coast as we did the LA Comic Con and the NY Comic Con. After two successful direct-to-DVD releases, I did an award-winning documentary Pirates of the Airwaves The WSOU Story. And now full circle for my fourth film, I am back where it all started with a horror feature film, “The Husband’.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The struggle is real and always twofold. First, it is your own demons that prevent you from executing a plan, dream, or project like a movie. Second, it is the doubters that say you can not do it. My own demons have been doubting in me. I used to seek validation and faith in myself from external sources be it family or significant others. Even if you find it, it is temporary at best. You only need faith in yourself and the will to relentlessly pursue your dream. Once you have faith and willpower for yourself then yes the doubters will come, but they are easier to defeat by just doing it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a storyteller at heart, and I believe it is how I can immortalize myself by sharing stories that resonate with an audience big or small. I would like to think I have a good pulse on the market and within my limited resources I write and film stories within that wheelhouse. Great change can be accomplished by stories. I hope more than anything I am an inspiration to others to not only just dream but to relentlessly pursue that dream until they execute it and it manifests through one’s own actions and willpower.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The plan is to make one feature horror film a year. You can support us on our Indiegogo page on a project-per-project basis. The Husband is going to be released on Halloween. We have already started pre-production for Meatface. I know our Vixens of Virtue fans are eager for us to put on the cape again and we will. We welcome all support through social media from Facebook to Instagram.
