Check Out Nadia Saadatmandi’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nadia Saadatmandi

Hi Nadia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was 20, about to turn 21, I was overweight weighing in at 174 pounds and standing at 5 foot three I was overweight. My test results came back that I was prediabetic. That was when I started experimenting with different ways of lifestyle and looking at my diet and physical activity. I lost the weight pretty rapidly and since then I’ve been a lot more open minded about things that affect my health.
In total, I lost 25 pounds. But I had other issues too. Ever since I was in high school I had chronic cystic acne. Because of the acne, my doctors told me to start taking hormonal birth control pills. The combination of the hormone pills, as well as my lack of knowledge regarding physical activity, led me to develop an auto immune disorder called Hashimoto’s.
I was year away from graduating from UCSD with a BA in Psychology when I decided to withdraw and pursue health coaching instead. Through the house coaching, I realize that rapid weight loss, the issues with my cystic acne, as well as my auto immune disorder were all things that I could manage, if not heal through functional medicine. Since I started learning about functional medicine and opening my eyes, I’ve been able to maintain a healthy weight, get rid of the acne that had plague since I was in high school, as well as control and manage my auto immune disorder symptoms.
Because of my personal journey, I now want to work with other women who deal with hormonal imbalance as well as other health issues and let them know that anything is possible.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. There have been a lot of ups and downs when it comes to learning as well as trial and error with finding what works for my body.
Because I had dropped out of UCSD I now had to pay for housing every month and that means I need to have a job while I got my health coaching business off the ground. I was trying to manage a full-time serving job on top of the course I was taking to get my certification. And now I’m balancing a full-time job, trying to get my business off the ground.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I work with functional medicine, And this is different from conventional western medicine and that we don’t think prescription medication to treat the symptoms and then overlook the root cause of the issue.
Functional medicine is about looking at your symptoms and lining it up with probable cause it has so that we can treat the main issue as opposed to just giving you a Band-Aid for your symptoms. There’s a lot more lifestyle management specific testing involved with functional medicine. When you go to your doctor, they might ask you a couple baseline questions and then write your prescription telling you to follow up in six months. Cause you never have to deal with symptoms as well as educate on proper lifestyle components, so that you can avoid other issues in the future as well.

I specifically work with women who deal with hormonal imbalances typically with an ages of 18 and 35. A lot of women are disregarded when they go to the doctors or they say women are being dramatic about their symptoms.
I want women to feel comfortable telling about how they feel or any issues they might have.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I really like the ‘I Am’ app, it gives me a ton of different affirmations to use during the day and I find it helpful!
The Yuka app is also sooo helpful. I can scan any product (food or cosmetic) and it will give me a rating 0-100 and let me know how safe or unsafe it is to use/eat

Pricing:

  • For six months to work with me one on one, I charge $1200. That includes biweekly meetings, diet plans, activity management, lifestyle changes, as well as access to an app that has all the recipes specific diets need and a tracker. I can also recommend supplements as needed depending on what we are working on
