Check Out Monica Grubin’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Grubin.

Hi monica, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My degree is in integrate physiology and was going to PA school for Othopedic surgery before I took a pure barre class and the owner at the time only had 4 studios in the nation. She wanted me to open on in the OC. So I took my money I had been saving and Bought a license agreement with pure barre in 2008. I was 24 years old. Now I have 4 locations for over 16 years. I loved pure barre and it was everything I was looking for in a workout. It protects the joints but still give you a killer workout. I played college water polo so I love a good workout and this checked all my boxes and I was passionate about it and what it can do for others.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like life there have been ups and downs. I opened in the 08′ crash so had to work hard to get the word out. Covid and inflation have been hard.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
You can attend any class even if you are a beginner: All classes are the same level as the technique was designed to work for people at all levels of fitness. That way, you can choose the class that suits your schedule, rather than being forced to work out at a specific time based on the level of class. The positions and movements are basic – it’s how deep you work in them that makes the difference. We are constantly changing our music and moves to keep each class fresh and exciting. In fact, you should never experience the exact same class twice!

You will shake: The ideas is to get the muscle to fatigue. So to do that you have to shake. Shaking is good. When your body shakes, it means your muscles are reaching the point of fatigue, which is a good thing! Your goal is to have the muscle group you are targeting during a specific section of class shake every time. After the shake, you will stretch, to elongate the muscles while they are warm and malleable. This leads to long, lean muscles!

Your body will change: By taking Pure Barre classes, you will burn calories and gain lean muscle. Its low-impact, isometric movements target and tone certain areas of your body, and your heart rate will go up and down depending on how hard you work. You can see results in just 8-10 classes! For optimal results, classes should be taken at least 3-4 times per week. But your body changes right before your and our eyes which is incredible.

We cater to all injuries, pregnancy postpartum and are highly recommended by most physical therapist and OB/GYN offices as a safe and great way to train.

Pure Barre is more than just a workout; it’s a lifestyle. At Pure Barre, women share a sense of community in which they are inspired and empowered by each others’ fitness and lifestyle goals.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My parents supported me from day 1 along with my now husband. We built my first studio together painting and installing bar’s into the early morning hours. They have always trusted my instincts even when I told them I was not going to PA school anymore and opening a business during a recession.

I could not do this without my current team. Some girls I have had since day 1. 16 years of having the same people on your staff and in your corner has been amazing. It also makes amazing teachers for my clients. My regional manager has been with me over 12 years as well as my general managers. We are a big family not a business. We respect each other and we all work as a team.
