Today we’d like to introduce you to Megg Morales.
Hi Megg, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born in LA by my single Mother. I have always been very Creative. I always considered myself an Artist.
I played music, would Draw, make my own clothes and started modeling professionally at 16. At 18, I got on Top Model Cycle 7. I find this funny, bc being raised in LA, of course I got onto a TV show. I traveled the world Modeling after. I was in an electronic band during. Then after the whirlwind, I landed back in LA, developing my own clothing line, Bumpalace and currently getting my license in cosmetology. The creativity never ends.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not a smooth Road at all! I, unfortunately, had my battles with addiction to alcohol and mood-altering substances. There are parts of myself that can be very isolated and I was so many different characters in my career, that being who truly Megg was challenging to face. I did not start to love myself until later in my life. I struggled with the anxiety of balancing survival and also being an Artist. I still do, but I have tools and a support system, and I have to replace that horrific voice in my head that says, “You can’t do that! “ or “Your not worth it”. With “You can” and “You are worth it”.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m known for my modeling Career. Although now I’ll mainly do modeling jobs as my artist self Megg. I’m no longer just a canvas.
I’ve been in the development of my clothing line Bumpalace and making sales.
I love expressing my art this way.
I also work with music artists and make their merch.
I as well, love taking the mic and singing on different music projects.
I’m currently in school getting my cosmetology license.
I want to work on sets and be on the other side of the camera.
I have a really strong eye for visuals in photos/ Videos.
What sets me aside, is I have so much diverse experience, and I have a very empathetic personality. So I’m able to work with so many different creatives and just make magic happen.
It’s really important to me to keep evolving. This is who I am, it’s not just something I do.
I’m proud of it all, bc it aligns with my path.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
That I’m an introvert. Most people think I’m far out and completely out of my mind, but I have this quiet observant side that I never really showed people until recently in my life. I don’t think people would guess that looking at my career or my clothing line.
