Check Out Maria Sole Ronzoni’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Sole Ronzoni.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It all began with me being an International student from Italy. I got my associate’s degree in Marketing Promotion and Entertainment, and then I got my bachelor’s degree at the Los Angeles film School in Production. The reason why I decided to move to LA was because I had taken in the past a short summer program at UCLA. That also made me want to get my bachelor’s degree in film production. After college I have been able to combine and create what I love which is creating content and bring it into the world where I come from in Italy: Fashion. Therefore, I started collaborating for many fashion brands, creating digital content for brand from all over the world. A big goal for me was also incorporating sustainability and align fashion with a more sustainable approach. While I was in college one my short film called Mother, a letter, an apology to mother earth, was nominated to many film festivals around sustainability. I decided to bring sustainability into my family Italian fashion brand called Tosca Blu and create a fully up-cycled plastic collection of bags made from recycled toothbrushes and plastic bottles. Today I am working on many different projects creating content as a producer and talent for different brands. I am very proud of where I am today at my 24 years old and have lots of ideas and goals I hope to accomplish in the next few years.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been an easy one. The most difficult is the cultural difference between Italy and the US and having to adapt and go back and forth has always been quite shocking. One doesn’t realized but it is not easy to adapt to everything they way people eat, talk, drive, even American sarcasm is still something I have a hard time understanding. The second biggest struggle was being far away from my family, feeling like I was on my path but also so far from them. Now I feel like I have more flexibility of going back and forth for work but when I was still in school, it was definitely a challenge.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an artist, creative, talent. I specialize in creating digital content. I come from the fashion industry in Italy from our family brand Tosca Blu and I am currently the creative director of the brand with my sister. I have many ongoing collaborations with different fashion brands both in Europe and in Italy. I create art, painting is a big one for me as a passion but also short films. I’m in the middle of editing a short film that will be released soon. I am also a talent and work a lot as a model for my collaboration, I’d say people call me “influencer” but I define myself more as a digital content creator because there is a big work behind the creation and planning for the production of a shoot, coordination with photographer, lights, video making, and post-production with editing.

I am really proud of myself because on top of all this creative work, I have also been able to incorporate some non-profit charity work. I have run fundraisers that have helped people in need in Los Angeles, the last fundraiser helped us buy plants and build a garden for the homeless community in Los Angeles. The organization of the project was not easy, we had volunteers and the homeless community collaborate on the garden project. It was beautiful to see the results and help build responsibilities in our community. The other project I lead for our fashion brand Tosca Blu was the fully recycled plastic bags. It was very successful. I believe nowadays brands need to put the environment before the profit, and we are trying to push for a better eco-friendly product. I try to collaborate with brands that share this vision and care about the planet.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
You need to be yourself, don’t let other people influence or tell you what is best for you. Don’t let fears take over or think you are not enough. Of course, I have my insecurities too and have thought, “maybe I’m not good enough”, “This is not the right thing for me”, “I can’t do this”… Well, I feel like the mentality has to be different if we want to achieve something, first we need to believe that we can. Especially with the business world, sometimes you might jump on a project or do something and the result will not come back as you expected. But what if we didn’t try? We wouldn’t learn from our mistakes or get anywhere. So better to give it a try and fail rather than not try at all.
