Today we’d like to introduce you to London March.
Hi London, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I started releasing music last year, but I’ve been making it for years. I got more serious about songwriting once I moved to LA, which was in 2022 after I transferred from my community college in the Bay Area. I’m an English major at UCLA student, and I love writing. My favorite medium of it is definitely songwriting! I have had so much meeting other musicians and getting to create with other people. Some of my favorite people I’ve met have been through music.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, but it never really is for anyone. I’ve struggled a lot with my identity as a bisexual person, but I think this ultimately has taught me a lot and made me into a more empathetic person. It’s also beautiful to be able to write about difficult experiences and turn them into something special that can be used to relate to others and help them feel understood.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an alternative musician geared towards indie pop. I use songwriting as a way to deal with my emotions, and I think it is incredibly fun. I love performing, and I am trying to do it as much as possible. I feel like I am very much still discovering myself as an artist, but I just love being able to sort through my feelings and turn them into something that feels good, no matter what they began as. Even when a song comes out of feeling incredibly angry, it eventually turns into something that I can’t stop smiling at when I perform it. I also like to use humor when the opportunity presents itself, and I appreciate it when a song makes you laugh now and then.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
You should try to be as kind as you can to everyone, including yourself.
