Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Hsieh.

Hi Lisa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m an apparel designer and have been in the design industry for over 15 years. In 2015, I started my brand Mien here in Los Angeles, sourcing and partnering with small, family-owned factories in L.A. to produce my designs. I focus on sustainability, making every style in small batches, using premium eco-friendly fabrics and non-toxic dyes.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In the eight years since I started my company, the road definitely had its twists and turns. It took a lot of patience, tenacity, and optimism to get through the first few years but I knew I had well-designed, beautiful quality products that are solving a need for customers out there like myself. We’ve come a long way since. Through all the challenges and changing times, sustainability and staying connected with our customers to create products that delight them have always been at the forefront in all we do.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We’re known for our elevated, easy-to-wear, and versatile styles. When DOVE® Ice Cream reached out to me to launch a limited-edition collection to celebrate their newly redesigned, luxe packaging with eco-friendly practices as a nod to the brand’s sustainability commitment, I jumped at the opportunity to partner with the beloved national brand.

Together, we designed DOVE Ice Cream x Mien “Silky Smooth Sets,” perfect for lounging at home or a night on the town. The collection consists of stylish and classic pieces that can be mixed and matched. We chose a smooth, luxurious, and locally-sourced viscose blend fabric that had a gorgeous soft sheen. After the pieces were cut and sewn here in L.A. with Mien’s factory partners, we dyed them in colors reminiscent of DOVE Ice Cream’s decadent new packaging: dark chocolate brown, raspberry, and cerulean blue – all with chocolate brown piping on the sides of each garment. All sales of the collection went to an international humanitarian organization that has been a longstanding partner of DOVE.

Alongside DOVE Ice Cream, our all-female team came together and brought the vision of a luxurious experience and indulgence into this Silky Smooth Set just in time for International Self Care Day. It’s one of our biggest collaborations and one of the most memorable for our all-female team.
