Check Out Linda’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Linda.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always loved decorating for events, special occasions, and parties. When my son turned three, he asked for a themed birthday that didn’t exist in stores at the time. Instead of saying no, I rolled up my sleeves and created everything from scratch. That moment sparked something in me—I realized how much joy I felt in bringing celebrations to life.

Over the years, I decorated for different events at work, but it wasn’t until the beginning of the pandemic that my passion truly evolved. With all gatherings canceled, I thought about how people could still celebrate in meaningful ways. That’s when I decided to dive into balloon art. At first, it was just for loved ones—backyard setups, driveway surprises, or even a simple yet beautiful balloon bouquet dropped off at someone’s doorstep to brighten their day. Beyond creating joy, it also gave me a safe way to see my family and friends while social distancing, which meant the world to me during such uncertain times.
I started my business on the side while working a full-time job and pursuing my degree in Communication Studies (a journey I’m still on today). As a first-generation Latina, balancing motherhood, school, work, and entrepreneurship hasn’t always been easy, but it’s taught me resilience, time management, and the importance of chasing your passion no matter the circumstances.

I knew nothing about balloons at the time, but I taught myself step by step. I researched, took classes, and learned mostly through trial and error. What began in my parents’ garage in Boyle Heights has now blossomed into a thriving small business that continues to grow. What started with balloons has expanded into offering photobooths, floral arrangements, full event planning, and event coordination services—allowing me to help clients celebrate their milestones carefully curated from start to finish.

This journey has opened doors I once only dreamed of and given me the honor of working with and meeting incredible people along the way. None of this would have been possible without the love and support of my family, friends, and loyal clients. My parents especially have been my foundation, instilling in me the values of hard work and perseverance. Because of them, I’ve been able to follow my dreams—and turn them into reality.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Starting out, I knew nothing about balloons or running a business, so I’ve had to learn along the way. There have been plenty of late nights spent experimenting with designs that didn’t always work out. Balancing everything has also been a challenge—I’ve built this business while working a full-time job and pursuing my degree in Communication Studies, which has meant sacrificing sleep, free time, and countless social events. As a first-generation Latina, another struggle has been learning how to navigate the business world without a blueprint or roadmap. I haven’t had a mentor or someone to guide me through the process. On top of that, working through the uncertainty of the pandemic and constantly shifting safety measures made things a lot harder.

Through all of these challenges, I’ve learned to be resourceful, persistent, and creative. Each struggle has taught me something new and has pushed me to grow—not just as a business owner, but as a person. These lessons are what keep me moving forward.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an event designer and entrepreneur specializing in creating unforgettable moments through custom event décor that becomes the focal point of large venues and high-profile celebrations. I’m known for my creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to transform any space into a one-of-a-kind experience. My clients trust me to bring their visions to life—no matter how big or small.

While I’ve had the honor of working at incredible venues, the project I’m most proud of is my ongoing relationship with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. Knowing that my work contributes to the joy, care, and hope they provide for children and families brings me more fulfillment than anything else I’ve done.

What sets me apart is my mindset—I’m a go-getter. If I don’t know something, I’ll learn it, master it, and make it happen. I don’t believe in limits, and so far, there hasn’t been a challenge I haven’t been able to achieve once I set my mind to it.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is creating joy and meaningful connections for others. I’ve seen firsthand how celebrations—whether big or small—can bring people together, uplift spirits, and create lifelong memories. That’s why I pour so much heart into every project I take on. I’m especially proud when my work contributes to something bigger than myself, like the projects I’ve had the honor of doing with CHLA. Knowing that my creativity can bring a smile or a moment of happiness to children and families going through difficult times is what fuels me.

At the end of the day, what matters most to me is leaving a positive impact—not just through beautiful events, but by showing my son, my family, and my community that with hard work, passion, and determination dreams, really can become reality.
