Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyndyl Miller.
Hi Kyndyl, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I’ve been playing the piano since I was 4 years old and decided to get both my bachelor and master’s degree in classical piano. Throughout those years, I’ve always had a fascination with music other than classical and started to play along with The Beatles, Celine Dion, and Michael Jackson on the piano. Fast-forward to the future, now I write songs for TV and recently came back from a US tour with Violet Skies as her keyboardist. With the end of the year approaching, I’m currently writing an EP of Ballads as well as an instrumental piano album. Both are set to release in 2023!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been anything but smooth. Going to school in New York and trying to make ends meet wasn’t always an easy task, but luckily as I became a piano teacher, students kept coming to me for lessons. As I moved to LA and not knowing many people, I had to start from scratch, and have finally come to a place where I am able to teach and write music comfortably, albeit it took 4 years to achieve.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a pianist and singer-songwriter specializing in ballads. I’m most proud of my development into a producer that fits the music I write. I believe as a songwriter with a classical background, it gives me the opportunity to incorporate some of my favorite harmonies into my ballads.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
The advice is to keep grinding and really hone in on what your specialty is. It’s great to have many skills, but if you decide to specialize in a certain instrument for example, more and more people will seek you out and you’ll get more opportunities that way!
