Check Out John Pomar’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to John Pomar.

John Pomar

Hi John, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started writing poems when I was younger. I enjoyed it so much; it helped me express myself easier. I didn’t think about making music until I was in high school when a friend I had gave me the idea of recording my poems. Through all of life’s ups and downs, I’ve experienced writing was always a constant way for me to express my thoughts and emotions. I got this far in life because I didn’t give up, even though numerous times I wanted to. I keep myself motivated and determined to succeed by simply putting in the work and keeping my passion burning.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Life has not been an easy road. I had to grow up kind of quickly. I lost way too many people close to me from different things. One struggle which I don’t call a struggle is my mental health, I am bipolar but I am so much more than that. I had to learn to cope and find ways that helped me maintain a level of state of mind. It really does matter how you speak to yourself!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an artist. I make hip hop/country rap tunes. I’ve also taught myself how to mix master songs, which I have so much more to learn about. I’ve always worn clothes leaning more to the countryside, and because of that, I’ve developed the nickname Bipolar Cowboy. When you first meet me, you wouldn’t believe me if I told you I made hip hop music, but when you do hear my music, you see the heavy influence of my upbringing and the different paths of life I’ve walked. I think what sets me apart from others is I stay true to myself. You will always see me wearing boots and jeans with either a cowboy hat or a ball cap. I don’t pretend to be something I’m not. My music reflects that as well, I went through my music from the good, bad, and fun times.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I push myself to step out of my comfort zone. I’m honestly a loner at heart. I push myself to engage with people and promote my music when out. I don’t normally talk to people freely I’m rather reserved. I’ve found talking to people and promoting music has helped me become a little more social and outgoing.
