Today we’d like to introduce you to John Clavier Blake Bagby
Hi John Clavier, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Our paths first crossed in high school in Jacksonville, FL, where we both studied theater. Afterward, we both studied drama at arts conservatories in Chicago and North Carolina, but fast forward a few years, and suddenly we’re living together in Los Angeles. We dove into the world of sketch comedy and stand-up, even co-owned a live venue on Hollywood Boulevard for a while—until Covid, of course, put an end to that.
With time on our hands and lots of depression to deal with, we played a lot more golf—because, let’s be real, it’s the only sport where you can drink and be terrible at it simultaneously. We started filming some funny ideas we cooked up on the course for Instagram, and somehow, people started watching. That’s when “Worst Golfers” was born.
We’re not here to teach you how to improve your game; we’re here to make you laugh and remind bad golfers everywhere that they’re not alone.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not a smooth road—unless you count the cart paths we accidentally drive on.
Balancing this with real life has been the biggest challenge for us. We both work full time jobs, John managing at a hotel in Beverly Hills, and Blake as a freelance Content Producer/Videographer, so finding time to film isn’t always easy. But no matter how busy we get, we make it a priority to meet up every week, hit the course, and make something funny. Even if it totally sucks.
There have been times we’ve been exhausted, running on fumes, and maybe a little hungover but the love for making people laugh at how bad we are at golf, keeps us going.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We make golf comedy videos because the sport is already frustrating—someone has to make it funny. Our channel, Worst Golfers, is all about celebrating the terrible shots, the unnecessary confidence, and the complete denial that we’re bad at this game.
We specialize in capturing the moments every golfer experiences but no one wants to admit—like confidently lining up a putt just to leave it six feet short, or absolutely destroying a drive… straight into the woods. We’re known for making people feel better about their own game because, no matter how bad you think you are, we are undoubtedly worse.
What sets us apart is that most golf channels are all about helping you get better. We’re here to teach you how to accept that you won’t. No swing tips, no drills, no “pro advice”—just relentless comedy in the face of total disaster. And honestly, we’re proud of that. We might not make you a better golfer, but we’ll definitely make you laugh.
