Today we’d like to introduce you to John Calpin
Hi John, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is John Calpin and I started in the motion picture industry over 25 years ago making monsters for a living. I had the great fortune to work with Oscar Winning Makeup Artists Rick Baker and Stan Winston during this period and have worked on such films as BATMAN RETURNS, THE LOST WORLD: JURASSIC PARK 2, and MEN IN BLACK 2.
I recently have begun my journey as a Professional Portrait Photographer who specializes in working with the experts in the ever evolving arts and entertainment field. Whether you are an actor, producer, video game designer, writer, filmmaker or musician I’ll work with you to show your dynamic and effective personality.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Any journey starts with a first step and I am learning something new about running a business daily. I always say the bigger the struggle, the bigger the reward. And there are no overnight successes.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I consider my work “PORTRAITS WITH A DIFFERENCE” since I mainly work with professionals in the arts and entertainment industry. I’m known for my dramatic black and white portraiture that is unique and distinctive.
I love to collaborate with creatives who want to stand out online and be seen at the “Go-To” individual in their field.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I believe anytime I take a portrait of someone and they share it online has helped me tremendously. I’m also very grateful for my parents who always encouraged me to pursue my dreams.
