Check Out Jess Solomon’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jess Solomon.

Hi Jess, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I moved to California from New York around 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree and a natural gift for sales. Selling came easily to me—it was in my DNA—but I was looking for work that meant more than numbers and quotas.

In 2004, I entered the eldercare market as a marketer for a home care company. That vantage point gave me a unique perspective into the healthcare system—an insider’s view of families in crisis, service providers struggling to keep up, and the sheer complexity of navigating care.

Two Decades of Change

Over the past two decades, I’ve watched the eldercare industry—and the generations it serves—evolve. I’ve seen enormous progress in some areas, but I’ve also witnessed huge gaps in services, outdated models, and systems that simply don’t match the needs of today’s families.

What stood out most to me was the imbalance: service providers often felt like underdogs, trying to do the right thing but hampered by red tape or opaque structures, while families desperately in need of clarity and support were left floating without a net.

Bridging the Gap

I knew there had to be a better way—a way to ground families during the hardest moments of decision-making while also supporting the professionals who serve them.

That vision led me to start developing Next Best Home in 2020:

A transparent platform, designed to bridge the tremendous gap between families in need and the services that can help them.

A place where people in the throes of immediate or sudden care planning can find clarity instead of chaos.

A resource for both families and providers that replaces outdated models with tools built for today—and tomorrow.

At its core, Next Best Home is about grounding people in difficult times and creating a space where trust, transparency, and support replace confusion and overwhelm.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The first challenge for me is that I am not technical. In just the last six months alone, technology has advanced so quickly that it’s opening up opportunities to scale in new directions—but at its core, this is still a grassroots, organic effort.

The real grit of building something like this is gaining the trust of service providers. Many are hard to reach, hesitant to trust, or have communication challenges. And yet, their data is critical to keeping the platform accurate and useful. Sure, some of these challenges can be automated—but automation doesn’t build trust or reputation.

So, the struggles have been twofold: the technical hurdles of creating a blueprint for something that hasn’t been done before, and the human hurdles of building credibility in an industry that values relationships above all else.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Serial Connector & Collaborator

I’ve always been a connector—building relationships and weaving networks together is something I consider both an art and a science. I had an aptitude for math and science growing up, but I was equally drawn to creativity, crafts, and music. That balance of analytical thinking and creative problem-solving has shaped my entire professional journey.

My true “happy place” is in sales strategy—developing new markets, building client bases, and helping people find solutions in spaces that are often confusing or underserved. Over the past 20 years, much of my work has been in senior care, where I’ve seen firsthand the gaps families face when navigating care options. That inspired me to begin developing Next Best Home, a platform designed to bring transparency, clarity, and trusted resources to families in crisis.

In addition, I work as a mortgage strategist, focusing on financial solutions that help families afford both short-term and long-term care. Together, these paths—senior care and financial services—have become a synergistic model for me. It’s where my experience, passion, and network come together to create meaningful impact.

What sets me apart is my ability to connect the dots—between industries, between people, and between challenges and solutions. I’m most proud of the collaborations and partnerships I’ve built, because I believe that trusted relationships are the foundation for lasting change.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Most people know me professionally as a connector — someone who thrives on building networks, solving complex problems, and creating opportunities. What they might not expect is that I’ve always had a deep creative side. Since childhood, I’ve been drawn to working with my hands and exploring different forms of art — from crocheting and painting murals to experimenting with new mediums just for the joy of it.

With an aptitude for math and science, I naturally gravitated toward roles that involve strategic thinking, but it’s the creative process — the outside-the-box problem-solving and intuitive connection-making — that keeps me inspired. That’s why I love sales and marketing: it allows me to blend structure with innovation, and connection with creativity. I’m not tied to mastering one thing — I find fulfillment in learning something new, expressing it, and moving on to the next challenge.
