Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenifer Segraves.

Hi Jenifer, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hive❌⭕️ started 11 years ago. A customer told me about a beautiful little building available across from Ritz Carlton. I owned an organic juice bar and she wanted me to open another one.
The space wasn’t suitable to make any products in it so it went from a Juice bar healthy snack bar and lifestyle boutique.
I’m a fashion designer and seamstress by trade but love making healthy treats and other beautiful items, whatever puts a smile on my face and in my heart.
This last year, we have also turned the Hive into a monarch butterfly weigh station.
My goal was always to just create a beautiful space with beautiful energy where I can share all the beautiful things I love making with the community and bringing people together to enjoy a healthy lifestyle by offering healthy snacks, and items we make with love and care. All the items we source are ethically made, and picked with care.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Owning a business is never a smooth road. It took quite a few years to get the community to find trust and love us. I’ve never done any advertising. The biggest struggle has been surviving through the slow time, Covid and the ups and downs of the economy. I think with any small business, another big struggle comes with sourcing organic products in my case and finding employees that care about the customers and products as much as I do.
So lucky right now I have the best employees. I hope they stay with me forever. They are as much a part of the Hive as I am, I couldn’t do it without them.
Awning a small business is never smooth, but I’ve loved every second of it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
The Hive specializes in organic gluten and dairy free ice cream sandwiches and artesian popsicles. We are also known for our one-of-a-kind Jewlery and beautifully selected artesian products from ethically sourced companies from different places, local and far.

I make the Ice Cream Sandwiches and another local girl makes the Popsicles. I’m a designer by trade, which is why I also make Jewlery candles, smudge, sticks, clothing and whatever my heart desires.
What set us apart from others is we make most of our products you can’t get anywhere else. Everything is made with love, care and intention.
And starting this year, the Hive now has an amazing garden filled with butterflies and amazing energy that people come back to see time and time again

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson has been to run my business with love and intention and not worry or sweat the small things.
We’d rather take a product a customer is unhappy with back and give them a full refund, then worry about the loss. When you come to the Hive, we make sure you leave happy. We go out of our way to make our customers feel welcome at home and appreciated. we wouldn’t exist without our customers so it’s so important for us to take care of every single one of them. We treat the five year-old no different than the seven-year-old..
