Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Knoll
Hi Jason, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
One day, after riding an e-bike to set and then struggling to push my heavy camera cart up a long driveway, I thought, ‘Why isn’t there an electric assist for push carts?’ I shared the idea with my good friend and co-founder, Jeremy Mackie, and he immediately pushed us to explore whether it was possible. Now, four years later, we’re on our second iteration of the product, shaped by valuable feedback from our users. Our success comes down to two key priorities: reliability and exceptional customer service—everything we do is built around those principles.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Running a small business always comes with challenges. Jeremy and I are both film professionals, not product designers or businessmen, so we had to learn as we went—becoming engineers, designers, website creators, and advertisers along the way. It’s been a nonstop learning experience, but that’s part of what makes it exciting—there’s never a dull moment.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Jeremy is a Director of Photography with a background as a gaffer, so he has a deep understanding of electricity and working with power. I’m a 1st AC, with experience in building cameras and keeping them in focus throughout the shoot day. Our firsthand knowledge of the demands of working on set—and the challenges that come with it—has been invaluable in designing a product that truly meets the needs of our users.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Motorized wheels aren’t just for film carts on set—they can be used anywhere push carts are needed. We’ve had clients reach out to motorize food carts, coffee carts, and many other non-film applications. If you have an idea for electrifying a cart, I’d love to hear about it!
