Today we’d like to introduce you to Iyanna Dunn.
Hi Iyanna, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Originally from New Jersey, lyanna’s military journey took her to San Diego, where she served with honor until her discharge in 2017. She then pursued higher education, studying communications, business, and media. As she transitioned back to civilian life, lyanna rediscovered her passion for the spotlight, which first sparked when she starred in her own Nickelodeon series “Abby’s Friends” (90’s). Today, she’s a vibrant presence on social media, spreading positivity, showcasing the latest fashion and wellness trends, and inspiring others to live their best lives.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As a woman of color in the social media space, I wouldn’t say it’s been a smooth road. l’ve faced challenges like representation and diversity issues, where limited opportunities and biases can make it tough to break through. There’s also the issue of stereotyping and tokenization, where I’m sometimes expected to fit certain roles or narratives that can be limiting.
Balancing authenticity and expectations can be tough, but l’ve learned to stay true to myself while still meeting the needs of my audience. Every experience, good or bad, has shaped me into the person I am today, and I’m committed to using my voice to inspire and uplift others.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a social media influencer, I specialize in wellness, fashion, and lifestyle content, focusing on empowering people to live their best lives. I’m known for sharing inspiring stories, wellness tips, and fashion trends that promote self-love and confidence.
I’m most proud of building a supportive community where people can connect, share, and uplift each other. My
authenticity, vulnerability, and passion for helping others set me apart. I prioritize meaningful connections over mere numbers, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact on my audience’s lives.
What resonates with my audience is my genuine approach, relatable content, and commitment to promoting self-care, self-love, and personal growth. I’m humbled by the trust and loyalty they’ve placed in me, and I’m excited to continue sharing my journey and insights with them.
How do you think about luck?
As a content creator, I’d say luck has played a nuanced role in my journey. While hard work and dedication have been crucial, being in the right place at the right time and having opportunities come my way has certainly helped.
I’ve experienced moments of “good luck,” like collaborations falling into place or content going viral unexpectedly. These moments have opened doors and increased my visibility.
However, l’ve also faced “bad luck,” like algorithm changes impacting my reach or personal setbacks affecting my productivity. Instead of relying solely on luck, I’ve learned to adapt, be resilient, and focus on building meaningful relationships with my audience.
Ultimately, I believe success is a
combination of preparation, perseverance, and a bit of luck. By staying focused on my goals and values, l’m able to navigate the ups and downs and continue creating content that resonates with my audience.
