Today we’d like to introduce you to Happy Ali.
Hi Happy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
MY STORY — BY HAPPY ALI
A Journey of Intuition, Identity, Resilience, and Reinvention
My life has never followed a straight line. I’m an author, hypnotherapist, metaphysical teacher, and the creator of Soul-Tapping and the Subconscious Manifestation Method—but none of that started as a plan. It all began with a feeling, a whisper from something deeper inside me. I’ve always sensed life beneath the surface, the emotional currents people don’t say out loud, the intuitive nudges that don’t come from logic.
But everything changed in 1995.
I had a near-death experience that cracked my world open. In one night, I was shown more than some people learn in a lifetime—the inner mechanics of happiness, the truth behind human perception, and the difference between the mind’s illusions and the soul’s knowing. That night didn’t just inspire me; it rerouted me. It set me on the path I’m on today.
Spiritual awakening didn’t mean I was exempt from pain. In 2014, I lived every parent’s worst nightmare: I lost my son Sky at just four-and-a-half years old. Nothing can prepare you for that. Nothing can make sense of it. And yet, in that unbearable grief, I was confronted with the same question I had been teaching others:
Do I truly believe in the soul?
Do I truly trust what I learned that night in 1995?
Can I live the wisdom I share?
Sky’s passing could have destroyed me. Instead, it reshaped me. It made me deeper, more compassionate, more connected to the reality that love never ends and the soul never dies. That loss became the forge that strengthened my purpose.
As a single gay father to my twins, Syrus and Dario, and my daughter Faith, my life is grounded in real-world love and responsibility. My family is my anchor. Sky is forever part of my story, and every day I parent with his memory in my heart. Being an LGBTQ parent has taught me that identity and truth are not things we perform—they’re things we live. My work, my parenting, my voice… all of it comes from a place of authenticity and claiming my full self.
Out of all of this—awakening, heartbreak, parenting—came my work.
I wrote The Charisma Within: 15 Steps to Enhance Your Inner Magnetism and The Intuition Bible: How and Why to Tap Into Your Inner Wisdom, published by New World Library. These books reflect not just what I’ve learned but what I’ve lived. I’ve developed methods that blend neuroscience, spirituality, hypnotherapy, and manifestation into practical tools that help people heal their subconscious patterns and reconnect with their inner wisdom.
My signature method, and upcoming book, Soul-Tapping, teaches people how to hear the voice of their soul over the noise of their human software—the fear, conditioning, and survival programming that so many of us mistake for “truth.” Watching people shift their perspective, reclaim their power, and rewrite their internal narrative is one of the greatest honors of my life.
Today, I host the Happy Insights Podcast, speak at events, and guide people all over the world through intuitive development, hypnotherapy, and consciousness work. My mission is clear:
To help people remember who they really are, tap into their deepest knowing, and manifest lives that reflect their soul—not their fear.
My story is a wellness journey, a spiritual journey, an LGBTQ journey, and a human journey. It’s a story of discovering truth, surviving heartbreak, creating a family, reclaiming identity, and turning pain into purpose.
But more than anything, it’s a story of listening—listening to the voice within, and letting it lead the way.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My life has felt like a series of obstacles stacked one after another. I moved from Iran to Los Angeles when I was ten years old, not speaking a single word of English. By fifteen, I had to drop out of school because the bullying around my LGBTQ identity became unbearable. In those years, I never imagined I’d one day become an author, let alone write books that would touch people’s lives.
Another turning point came when my parents moved back to Iran when I was sixteen. Before I even turned seventeen, I returned to Los Angeles alone and have lived independently ever since. That made pursuing an education even harder, but in a strange way, my near-death experience became its own kind of education. It woke me up to a new reality and filled me with insight—but nobody wants to hear life’s wisdom from a seventeen-year-old. So I turned to what I knew best: creativity. As an artist, I chose makeup and became a makeup artist.
Everything shifted again when my son was born in 2009 and later when I adopted my daughter. I realized I couldn’t keep running from my true calling. I was meant to help people—to teach metaphysics, psychology, and the deeper mechanics of human consciousness. So I went back to school and earned my degree in psychology from UCLA. The heartbreaking irony is that I was accepted to UCLA the day after my son died in a car accident. Somehow, through grief and determination, I managed to graduate with honors.
After that, I fought to rebuild my family. I raised the money to have my twins, Syrus and Dario, on my own, wanting to make sure that what was broken could be transformed into something even more meaningful. As a single father, my hardest obstacle has been building a business while being a full-time parent. I’ve made it my mission to be present, attentive, and deeply connected to each of my children so they never lack love or time with their father.
Single parenthood slowed down the growth of my business, but it never stopped me. I kept creating—books, a podcast, content, my coaching practice. I’ve guided hundreds of women and men across the world, helping them see a bigger perspective, understand the worlds within and around them, and remember how to navigate life with the inner resources they forget they have. I teach what I’ve lived—and I’m not immune to the very struggles I help others face.
There are days when I question myself, wondering how I’ll continue being the father I strive to be while still carrying a business with big purpose. But every single day, without fail, I find strength in places it’s never existed before. And I keep rising. I keep pushing into new limits. And in the process, I keep showing my children—and everyone I serve—that obstacles aren’t endings. They’re gateways.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My business is creative and a practice. Because I’m an author, hypnotherapist, a coach, Host of my podcast and a content creator.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I’ve never thought of myself as a natural risk taker. My mother raised me to avoid risk at all costs, to stay safe, to choose the path with the least uncertainty. For most of my life, I lived that way. But as I’ve grown older—and especially as I’ve stepped deeper into my calling—I’ve learned a truth that every entrepreneur eventually confronts: a business cannot grow without risk. So I’ve had to unlearn those early patterns and rewrite the way I move through the world.
I’m still working on it, but I’ve already taken bigger risks than I ever imagined. Financial risks. Career risks. Emotional risks. One of the most defining decisions I made was leaving my makeup artistry career—a career that was steady, successful, and guaranteed—to pursue the life I felt called to live as an artist, a writer, and an entrepreneur. Every morning, there’s still a whisper in my mind saying, “Go back to what you know. Go back to what’s safe.” And every morning, I choose differently. I choose to bet on myself.
Taking a chance on yourself is one of the boldest risks you can take, and it’s also one of the scariest. Last year, I pushed myself into entirely new territory: I hired a team, expanded my operations, and even went into debt to make it happen—something that has always made me deeply uncomfortable. But I knew that if I kept trying to do everything alone, I would never grow into the person I’m meant to be or build the business I’m meant to lead.
The moment I began taking real risks, everything shifted. My business grew exponentially. Opportunities expanded. If I hadn’t dared to step outside my comfort zone, I’d still be working behind a makeup counter, wondering what my life could have been. Instead, I’ve now spoken at eleven conferences—teaching, guiding, and sharing my work for three to four hours at a time—each one met with love, gratitude, and validation that I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.
Every risk has been uncomfortable. Every decision has carried fear. But every single one has also moved me closer to my purpose. And that has made it all worth it.
