Check Out Francisco Martos’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Francisco Martos.

Hi Francisco, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m an actor from Spain who moved to Los Angeles about seven years ago to study acting at UCLA. After completing my program, I obtained my OPT and started working on projects such as Westworld and commercials for brands like Bosch, Cheetos, and LG. Later, I was granted an O-1 visa for three years.

Although the industry went through unstable times due to COVID and the writers’ strike, I’ve continued working with major companies like Verizon, Carl’s Jr., Toña, and On Cloud Running Shoes, and I’ve had the opportunity to audition for exciting projects like Stranger Things and Marvel.

I originally left Spain seeking adventure — to see the world, improve my English, and challenge myself through acting, which has always been my passion. Los Angeles felt like the perfect place to combine all of that, and even keep surfing. The experience has been incredible; I’ve met people from all over the world, gained a deeper understanding of life, and grown personally and artistically in ways I never expected.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Los Angeles really is a roller coaster, just like people say. There have been incredible moments, but also times when I’ve really missed home. Life in the U.S. is very different, and it takes time to adjust.

What’s helped me the most has been having good friends and surfing. Both have kept me grounded and connected to what’s real, especially during stressful or uncertain times. In the end, I think it’s all about staying calm and keeping a sense of humor…. humor can fix almost anything.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I started my acting career in 2019, after three years of training. Once I completed my studies, I obtained my first work visa and began working and auditioning for well-known TV shows. Shortly after, I booked my first role in the final season of Westworld on HBO. That project opened many doors, and soon after, I signed with my first agent, which allowed me to audition for several major productions.

Even though the recent strikes have changed the landscape in Los Angeles, I’ve stayed positive and proud of not giving up. I’ve learned from every setback and try to always see the bright side of things. At this stage of my life, I just want to focus on projects that inspire me, things I truly enjoy doing.

While film and television are my main passions, I’ve also discovered that working in commercials can be incredibly fun and fulfilling. It’s a great way to stay in front of the camera, work with creative teams, and keep exploring new sides of performance.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Don’t rush, don’t over do, enjoy the path and be more present in every project. At the end we are here for the joy it gives us.
