Today we’d like to introduce you to Dyliala Jammal
dyliala, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
As a kid I loved to draw and was always so fascinated by tattoos. When I grew older I always told my brother i wanted to start tattooing but couldn’t afford it. So he surprised me on Christmas 2022 with my own tattoo kit. After I was gifted that I jumped straight to tattooing myself with so much confidence. Once I learned the concept of how to work with needles, I continued to practice the different techniques. Soon enough my siblings and best friend became my first ever clients. They would let me practice on them always due to how much trust they had in me. Constantly telling me they know how much potential I had. It was hard when I started tattooing, I was trying to finish high school and manage making money to support myself. I eventually ended up graduating early and started to focus on tattooing only. Now I’m 2 months away from it being 2 years of me being a self taught artist and I couldn’t be more blessed to have the growth that I have.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There’s definitely been struggles through time. As a young and self taught artist in a world where people judge a lot, this came with a lot of “ she is young I wouldn’t trust her” or “ she never worked in a shop i wouldn’t book with her”. That is all very reasonable and understanding but can hurt a young entrepreneur mind, although I’ve never let that hurt me just let it make me want to work harder and practice more. Never take any criticism to the heart is whats key.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Tattoos I specialize in are earthy such as flowers and animals things of that nature. Im most proud of my growth, how fast i was able to become better in different things such as line work, shading, and contrast. Being a self taught artist helps set me apart from others because the outcome of work I do now makes the beginner me realize all the practice and self reflection that Ive done ended helping in the long run.
