Check Out Donna Zerger’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Donna Zerger.

Hi Donna, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
**My Story**

I grew up in a home without safety, love, or encouragement — an environment marked by abuse that taught me early on to numb my feelings. At fifteen, I found alcohol, and for years it was my best friend — my escape from pain, fear, and shame. Eventually, that friend turned on me. Running a friend’s truck into a tree and street sign became my wake-up call. Soon after, I entered sobriety — and have now been sober for over thirty-five years.

But sobriety didn’t fix everything. I still battled depression and a deep need for acceptance, especially from my parents. When I moved back near them hoping to prove I was “good enough,” I instead lost myself again. Eventually, I ran — literally — to save my life. That was the turning point when I finally accepted help and began healing.

Through journaling and reflection, I started to see the self-destructive patterns that ruled my life. I realized that healing wasn’t about forgetting my past — it was about rewriting it. From that realization, *Transformation Today* and the *Rewrite Your Story Membership* were born — a safe space where women heal visibility wounds, reclaim confidence, and create income from their stories.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Has it been a smooth road? Not even close — but that’s what makes the journey meaningful. Sobriety was just the first step; learning to *feel* again was the real challenge. For years, I battled depression, self-doubt, and the haunting belief that I’d never be enough. Every time I took a step forward, those old narratives tried to pull me back. But each setback revealed a deeper layer of strength — proof that transformation is possible for anyone.

The hardest part wasn’t quitting drinking; it was learning to live, trust, and love myself without needing external approval. Those struggles became the foundation of my mission today: helping women rewrite the stories that keep them small and finally see themselves the way they were always meant to be seen — whole, capable, and worthy.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I think this is to be about my day job, not the business I’m building. I am an Advanced Client Services Specialist for a financial advisor. I have over 40 years of experience in the financial services industry. In my current position I play a key role in managing client paperwork, including account openings, fund transfers, address updates, and the preparation of client reports. My secret sauce is efficient task management, organization. Able to see the big picture and break it down in bite size chunks. Excellent communication help me to take complicated processes and communicate them in a simple, easy to understand way.

My experience of being a financial advisor and my years in operations has given me a comprehensive understanding of account management operations which provides our clients added confidence in how their accounts are handled.

The last year has brought many changes and my work is no longer fulfilling. I have for over 20 years felt that I didn’t have a job I so enjoyed the work. But these changes are giving me yet on more to build my business so that I can retire and spend my serving other women and their families and making a lot of money doing it ☺️

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My biggest supporters have been a few close, long-time friends. Each supporting me in different ways. And in some things they all support and encourage me. Two of dearest friends literally saved my life, helping me get help when suicide was knocking at the door. There were several teacher in middle school and high school that helped me navigate through my teenage years. My current employer had been encouraging and supportive, just not lately.q
