Check Out Chris Notarile’s story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Notarile.

Hi Chris, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a filmmaker whose been working steadily for the last 19 years. I’ve made everything from shorts to features, commercials, music videos, children’s books and even graphic novels. I love what I do.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest challenge I’ve faced is and has always been fighting the algorithm. As wonderful as the internet is, it is no longer the free marker it once was, and now has the power to suppress the very creators that made it what it was. Back in the day, all you had to do was have a decent idea and the work would speak for itself, nowadays, you have to battle against paid for content, trends, and partner programs just to get noticed. Social media literally hides content from your audience sometimes and it’s just awful. I have over 93,000 subscribers on YouTube, and only less than 10% of them ever receive notifications for when I post a video. I’ve yet to really crack how to beat the algorithm, however I will say persistence and tailoring your content to what’s trending, or being able to predict a trend before it happens really helps.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Creating. I love to create. Writing, drawing, sculpting, filmmaking, I love being able to create my art and tell a story.
