Today we’d like to introduce you to Caroline Klebl
Hi Caroline, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey began as a student of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, in Mysore, India, where I practiced diligently on and off from 1999 to 2008, immersing myself deeply in the teachings of Ashtanga yoga. While continuing my own practice, I started teaching workshops internationally in 2002, sharing my passion for ashtanga yoga with others. Over time, I expanded my offerings to include teacher trainings in Los Angeles and in beautiful destinations around the world. I developed comprehensive 200, 300, and 500-hour yoga teacher training programs, designed to guide students at all levels, and am launching a premiere online yoga teacher training, making high-quality yoga education accessible to everyone.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, but it’s been incredibly rewarding. Along the way, I faced challenges, including balancing my personal practice with teaching, navigating the business side of yoga, and staying consistent with my creative projects. In addition to teaching, I write a book on the primary and intermediate series of Ashtanga yoga, produced an instructional yoga video, wrote articles for yoga magazines, and published two yoga calendars. These projects required dedication, focus, and perseverance, but the process has been deeply fulfilling and has allowed me to share my passion for yoga in many meaningful ways. Over the years, hundreds of students have graduated from my yoga teacher trainings, and they now teach yoga around the world, which has been one of the most rewarding aspects of this journey.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in Ashtanga yoga, with a focus on the primary, intermediate and advanced series. My work revolves around both deepening students’ personal practice and empowering them to teach others. Over the years, I’ve developed comprehensive 200, 300, and 500-hour teacher training programs, as well as a premiere online yoga teacher training, which allows me to reach a global community. I’m also known for writing a book on the Ashtanga primary and intermediate series, producing instructional yoga videos, and creating yoga calendars to support practitioners’ journeys. What I’m most proud of is the hundreds of students who have graduated from my teacher trainings and now share yoga with others around the world. What sets me apart is my commitment to maintaining the integrity of traditional Ashtanga teachings while also making them accessible and relevant to modern-day practitioners, both in person and online. My focus on clear, practical instruction and the personal connection I foster with students are central to my approach.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is teaching asana and helping others experience the transformative benefits of a consistent practice, on all levels—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Asana builds strength and flexibility; and cultivates mindfulness, awareness, and presence, which can deeply impact every aspect of life. The primary series of Ashtanga yoga is known as yoga chikitsa, or yoga therapy, and is designed to heal the body and promote longevity. The intermediate series is known as nadi shodhana, or energy channel purification, and purifies the mind and body of the practitioner. I believe that when students embrace their practice, they unlock a deeper connection to themselves, which leads to a greater sense of balance, peace, clarity, and spiritual growth. This holistic approach is what makes asana so powerful and what drives my passion for teaching—it’s more than learning new asanas; it’s connecting deeply with your soul.
