Today we’d like to introduce you to Candice Maginn.

Hi Candice, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We have lived in the Santa Clarita Valley for 27 years. We have seen it grow so much. We particularly fell in love with Old Town Newhall. The art culture, the old western cinema history, the mom and pop businesses, and restaurants that have been there for years. And it is so charming. We have traveled a bit, and have a particular love for Ireland. The food–the friendly, warm, and welcoming people, and the wonderful pub culture. You can always count on great conversation and a friendly smile, when you come to an Irish pub. Anywhere we have been in the country-or the world-we always feel right at home, when we find the Irish pub. It was a no-brainer for us to bring this culture to Santa
Clarita. We frequently entertained at our home-so the intent with our design was to make our guests feel like they walked into our home. We started our buildout on Main Street-in Old Town Newhall during COVID. The buildout took us two years. We partnered with world-renowned Irish Pub Company-who helped us bring our vision to life. The entire pub was built in Dublin Ireland-from the gorgeous woodwork and furntiure, to the bric-a-brac that lines the shelves. and shipped to Newhall-to be assembled. Our walls are covered in family photos, and Irish history. We have been open for almost 4 years now, and have become popular with our community. The people who are familiar with Irish pub culture, are so happy we are here, and help welcome the newcomers. Our mission is-no matter how bad your day was, once you walk through our blue doors-you can leave it all behind you,

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
COVID made it hard for us to open in a timely manner. But without it, we wouldn’t have had the time to perfect our recipes.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Maginn’s Pub is a husband and wife team.
Ryan Maginn is a hip hop artist, and has had a long career in the music industry. His world travels, touring-have exposed him to all types of different people and cultures. Being Irish-American, he has a particular love for the Irish culture and people.

Candice Maginn has a backround in the medical aesthetics field. She has always loved helping people feel their very best. Through Ryan, she also fell in love with Irish culture and food. Being a cook and foodie, she developed the pubs signature dishes, and award-winning fish and chips.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
The decision to open a restaurant during COVID, and with no prior experience-was a huge risk. We wouldn’t consider ourselves risk-takers-but our faith in our vision held strong for us. During tough financial times for many. it has made owning the pub challenging for us. But we have no regrets.
