Check Out Amanda Galvez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Galvez.

Hi Amanda, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have my Masters degree in Library Science where I have a background in special collections, arts librarianship, collection management, and instructional teaching; but also have experience in sustainability and farming. Today I merge both my interests and skills to serve as an independent, alternative, holistic educator. I teach at a local nature school, work as a private teacher/tutor in literature and creative writing, coach youth soccer, and work with local produce and flowers at LA HOMEFARM.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have naturally followed my instinctual pull of passions, while aligning with my personal goal of participating in purposeful and meaningful work. Juggling all my positions at once can be a challenge, but even that proves to be a lesson in the end.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Primarily working with children, I look at developmental ways for my students to: find their own voice to strengthen self-worth, use foundational aspects of literacy, art, music, movement, and the natural world to inspire creativity and connection, build trust with nature and their own bodies by growing motor skills through healthy movement, and cultivate an environment for curiosity and wonder to thrive.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Being proactive and seeking out my own opportunities has allowed me to intersect a variety of roles into one. A combination of luck, faith, and trust guides both my personal and professional live.
