Check Out Alpha Aminata Dismukes’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alpha Aminata Dismukes.

Hi Alpha Aminata, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a singer-songwriter, I was born in D.C and raised in Nashville, TN. My dad, Alpha Blondy is already well known in the reggae music scene. As a little girl, I fell in love with writing and R&B music and started writing music reviews for the Tennessee Tribune in 2014 and recording song demos in 2016. Then I moved to LA in my late twenties to pursue my music career. I released my first EP Dreams of September in August of 2018 and I’m currently in Atlanta promoting my hit single ” Loving Myself’ and working on my Album. slated for release in 2024 I wrote the song in early 2019 as a self-love anthem to myself and had no idea the effect it would have. 3 million streams later and the song has taken off. I am also a blog writer for Music Industry ATL Magazine based in Atlanta and Live with Carisha show run by Carisha tha Diva, a Media Maven, Journalist and Blogger. Her platform helps established and new artists get more exposure. I was featured in the first edition of the magazine as well. Looking forward to Introducing more people to my music on both coasts.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There were definitely some struggles along the way. In 2018, I struggled while being homeless and was in a very bad accident, my leg was broken and I was bedridden for a year and a half. I questioned a lot about my career choices and even thought about quitting music. Strangely enough though through lots of pray and persistence and faith, Music ended up being the main thing that kept me going and motivated to walk again.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Writer, Model and Singer-songwriter. I write and sing music and also am a published author. I specialize in storytelling, creative writing and writing a song in less than 5 minutes. I’m most proud of my first book being published this year and my latest song Loving Myself and the success it’s had this past year. Really happy and proud of myself for writing a song that encourages self-love and self-care. What sets me apart from others is my music and personality, I’m funny and have a nurturing nature. I tend to make friends wherever I go and I like knowing I can make people laugh and bring positivity into people’s lives with my songs.
