Check Out Alisha Allen’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alisha Allen.

Alisha Allen

Hi Alisha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always loved jewelry and accessorizing my looks. I’m a hands-on person who loves to use my creative mind. During Covid I was home with a newborn baby as a first-time mom and working my corporate job from home as well. I was desperately looking for a creative outlet, so I started making my own beaded bracelets. I instantly fell in love with it and started making bracelets for my friends and family. I knew I needed to use high-quality beads that wouldn’t tarnish, so I sought out the best materials for me to use. People started telling me that I could sell them, so I thought, why not?! I started with beaded jewelry and taught myself how to use other tools and findings to make jewelry with chains and clasps. I then found local boutiques to sell my jewelry in person to see if anyone was even interested in my designs and product. I’ve been able to keep quite a few loyal customers and gain new ones at each boutique. I love growing this business and creating jewelry, and look forward to learning and making new items

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. It’s very hard to grow a business and be a full-time mom with two little kids and a corporate job. My plan was to never work corporate and always work for myself, but life happens, and I found myself needing security. I’m finally in a place to spread my wings and see if I can grow this business. It’s important to me to be present with my family and still contribute financially. I make all my jewelry and prepare for my boutiques at night when the kids are asleep. It’s definitely a hustle, but it’s worth investing in myself and my business to do what it takes. Time is mostly the struggle, but I make it work

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I hand-make all my beaded and chain jewelry. I make bracelets, anklets, necklaces, earrings, and rings. I specialize in my beaded bracelets, which are the most popular. I use high-quality 14K gold filled, 14K rose gold filled, and sterling silver beads and materials. They are tarnish-resistant and can get wet. It was important to me to make sure I used high-quality beads for longevity. I make my own designs that I’m proud of. I also customize so I can help my customers’ vision come to life as well.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My husband has been my biggest supporter. He’s always supported this venture. He is always willing to help me at the boutiques and set up my displays, but it’s his faith in me that means the most. My best friend pushed me to start selling my jewelry and came with me to my first boutique. My friends and family always support me and show me how proud they are. My fitness coach was really pushed me to get my name out there and helped mentor me on owning a business.
