Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Harrington.

Alexis, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started dancing when I was 4 years old with Debbie Allen Dance Academy. I’ve Trained in multiple style from Ballet, Jazz, Modern, Tap, African, Dunham, Horton, Hip hop and many more. In 2018 I started teaching children ages 16mo-10 yrs old at Creation dance Studio. In 2020, I graduated from Cal State University of Northridge with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology : Dance Option. In the middle of the pandemic I started to teach Heels training to Adults. 2021, started traveling across the west coast to south teaching classes giving my students knowledge and love through dance. 2022 I booked my first performance as choreographer and dancer for Jeremih. 2023 I booked my first tour with jeremih on 50 cent’s final lap tour. Im currently still dancing with jeremih and touring along with being director at the children studio

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all .. I always felt no good enough or overlooked. Always felt like i have to prove myself. My First tour wasnt the easiest nor was prepared for what it would be like being away from home for 6 months.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m currently teach heels training for adults in all levels to help women and or men gain their confidence in every aspect along with training. Im push my students to see themselves in a nonjudgement lens and understand that this is a journey and give yourself grace. Im most proud of myself for how far Ive came and all the doubt i once had ive achieved. Seeing people across admire my work and wanting to learn from me was an amazing feeling. What sets me apart from others is i will always see myself as a student. My students challenge me to want more for them and myself. I learn more from my students then i do from being a teacher. I will forever remain humbled.
