Today we’d like to introduce you to Alana Hunter
Hi Alana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi my name is Alana. I have been a content creator/digital producer for the last 6 years. I found my passion for content creation through starting a youtube channel as well as being part of a couple reality shows which include HGTV, a series on crackle called Going from Broke, as well as being in various Buzzfeed videos. I started my producer journey at First Media creating content for a page called Blossom. There I produced videos with over 2.4 billion views. I was both in front and behind the camera and got to work on videos for brands like iconic consumer staples such as Disney, Goldfish, Mattel, Shoprite, Spirit Halloween, Coolmaker, and Absolut Vodka. After my time there I started investing more time into my own personal TikTok channel, alanasunny10 and have since been creating both lifestyle and UGC content for brands like Peter Thomas Roth, Skims, Good American, Tarte, Jo Malone, Smashbox and more. I also set up an amazon affiliate and Tiktok shop for commission. Apart from that I switched career paths to be a Social Media Manager and I also do Tiktok shop live stream hosting in my free time. Unfortunately my company, Vinivia decided to stop paying as of June 14 so I am currently looking for my next full time opportunity. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was sometimes smooth and sometimes really difficult. I definitely feel like alot of these media companies take advantage of young entry level talent with low pay and sometimes unprofessional leadership but I learned so much and grew from that. As of recently with Vinivia it has been super difficult. They suddenly stopped paying us due to “bank issues” and cancelled our health insurance without notice. in addition 401k money was taken out of our paycheck and it has not been deposited into our accounts, This has been super hard and makes me scared to work for start ups. We are all still employees and it it almost 2 months now of no pay received. This has taught me its important to have multiple streams of income.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have the unique background of being both a content creator, digital producer, as well as handling social media strategy/influencer management. i feel like this unique background really helps to be well rounded and understand the industry from multiple angles
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
alot! I feel like there has been so many times I have met random people or made friends along the way that have led me to amazing career and life opportunities.
