Check Out Adam Skeppar’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Skeppar.

Adam, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started playing guitar when I was 11 years old. I grew up in a town called Sodertalje in Sweden, so I played with my friends there. I studied music in high school and community colleges and played with different bands. When I was 21 years old I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my dreams in music and studied at Musicians Institute in Hollywood.

I did my associate’s Degree there and Graduated with The Outstanding Player Award of 2018. I played a lot in the clubs around LA and shortly after graduation I played with America’s Got Talent Winner Bianca Ryan on a TV show called The Morning Brew and Dash Radio etc. I also started playing with an artist named The Reasn, who had a manager named Christine Hufenbecher who is one of the founders of Mobile Sessions, whom I started working with as well.

I also started touring with an ABBA tribute band called Abbarama around the US. I played all over the country, and I toured with The Reasn as well and played in Vancouver. I got chosen to play with legendary guitarist Steve Vai for his 52-hour event the Big Mama-Jamathon in August of 2018. Guitarists who also played at the event were Steve Morse, Nuno Bettencourt, Tosin Abasi, Allen Hinds, Lee Ritenour, and many more. Getting to play at an event like this as a special guest is a big accomplishment as a guitarist.

Getting to do the things I’ve been lucky to do has taken a lot of perseverance, and hard work but also a lot of fun. Mobile Sessions is a company I still work with, they’ve worked with people like Meghan Trainor, Autumn Rowe, Earth Wind and Fire, Justin Derrico, James Valentine, and many more. So to get to be their in-house guitarist is a big honor. Recently I’ve been playing shows and writing music in Stockholm, and I’m on my way back to the US to work with Mobile Sessions and different artists.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For the most part but not always, the pandemic was challenging of course. And I’ve dealt with management who’ve lied etc. You have to be smart and have a lot of perseverance. It’s important to have continuity and to be disciplined even during trying times. If something is out of your control, you have to focus on the things you can control.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a guitarist. I’m playing with different artists in many types of music, both live and in the studio. I’m working with a Recording company called Mobile Sessions at the moment, who’ve worked with Meghan Trainor, Earth Wind and Fire, Autumn Rowe, James Valentine, etc as a session guitarist. I won the Outstanding Player of 2018 Award at the Musicians Institute and got invited to play with Steve Vai which is something I am very proud of.

I also got to tour America throughout a lot of 2018 and 2019 which is something I’ve enjoyed doing. I play mostly on Suhr guitars. I started working with Swedish drummer Josephine Forsman in 2018 and toured in a band called Abbarama where I worked with Hagstrom Guitars. I’ve also played with an artist named The Reasn, who I’ve played both in the Studio and Live, we played in venues like the Peppermint Club, The Sayers Club, The Satellite, etc.

I also played and wrote a song by Leena Regan called Ghost Town. I play everything from Pop, R&B, Funk, Jazz, Rock, etc. I have some session work coming up with Mobile Sessions which I’m excited about, they work with companies like Fender, AKG, Warmaudio, etc and some great artists so it’ll be fun working with them. I also post videos on social media, so you can keep up with my work there.

What sets me apart from others is that I can play multiple styles while also playing styles like I’ve played them my whole life. I have a wide arrange of genres that I can deliver in while also having my voice. My stage presence also sets me apart, and I bring energy and a level of musicality to the artists that lift the level of the show as a whole. I am mostly known for my work as a guitarist and getting to play with Steve Vai, Bianca Ryan (America’s Got Talent Winner), Abbarama among other artists, and now Mobile Sessions.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
The atmosphere, for sure. The way it looks, the way it feels, that there is always something going on. I feel like this is where it happens. You have everything here, the city life, the beaches, the mountains, even nature. It has it all. And once you work your way up you get to see the city through a different lens too. Which I enjoy.

The fact that there are people from all over the world is amazing as well. I don’t know what I like the least about Los Angeles. I do enjoy most aspects of it.
