Today we’d like to introduce you to Mason Greer.
Mason, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I started off as a writer at a young age. By the age of 14 I wrote my first novel and by 17 I published it. My passion for story telling evolved into film after seeing Donald Glover release his first single rap song. I had also written songs for years but never thought I would be taken seriously in that light (until I saw him do it). Right before college I started producing music and creating music videos to support it. These music videos eventually evolved into short films which has taken me down the path of filmmaking. As I grew as a story teller I really wanted to understand the actors I was working with, I decided to enroll in an acting class and this opened up my eyes to what performance could be. These skills helped me communicate with actors and bring out the best in them; it also opened up another career path for me as I became an actor myself. With my growing knowledge of people and the world around me I found myself gravitating towards socially conscious stories that dive deep into humanity and cultural issues. This style has helped me win awards at various festivals across the US and Canada.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I write direct and act in film and television. My stories are very character driven. I enjoy taking a simple story and turning it on its head by grounding the dilemma in a deep routed cultural issue. I hope by grounding the story in a sense of reality people can really get behind the characters and motives being displayed on screen no matter how big or small the task at hand is for protagonist.
Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
There is so much content out there that it is hard to get your stuff seen. There is a strong philosophy among actors, filmmakers and generally all content creators that you should be getting your work out as quickly as possible. However with the growing number of art pieces being put out daily this doesn’t exactly separate you from the crowd. This is why I try and spend a great deal of time working on one piece and making it as great as I can. With every film project I take this approach to the next one will increase in quality exponentially.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?

The biggest support I can get from my followers is to like and share with your community! We love to see the Vimeo comments grow and to hear people’s opinions about the story…and in the case of “Through the Night”, we love to hear the interpretations of the ending!
