Hi LoveToliii, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in San Francisco. Growing up, my dad would always be recording or making beats on his computer but it was more a hobby for him. I also took music classes and drum lessons and was involved in my school band. My middle school was very “techy” so they taught us how to use GarageBand so I learned that young. When I got to high school, I pretty much stopped playing instruments and taking lessons. I dappled in record myself with a few friends on GarageBand on Apple headphones and dropped maybe two songs but nothing serious. When I got college in 2016 and moved to LA, I just spent time around a lot of creatives (music, photographers, fashion, etc.). When I would come home, a person who I look up to and is like a big brother, role model he goes by Stunnaman02 was always doing something like performing so I would just go with him.
Originally I wanted to be more like A&R, manager type. And even started doing interviews. I began to meet a lot more people like artist engineers, videographers, etc. But I realized I really loved music and wanted to make more of my own. Around 2018, I shot my first music video and I thought it was so good but now I look back at it like wow. Since then, I’ve just got more and more serious and I would say the last year I began to drop singles and videos pretty consistently and have just continued to improve in all aspects. Recently created merch which is doing well and also dropped my first EP titled 1010 earlier this month.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been smooth at all. It’s very hard to be an independent artist especially when you’re new and people don’t know who you are yet. Being told no or not taken seriously. I got booked to perform on NYE in Oakland and the promoter kept giving me the run around from the soundcheck to the time I was supposed to be performing. He ended up not letting me perform for whatever reason I still don’t know. I was really excited and I worked hard and I was ready to kill that performance and it was a good amount of people there. But I believe the only way to fail is to quit which is why I keep going. I don’t let anything discourage me. Anything bad I try to turn good and keep pushing
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I make music and I also have a clothing brand. I think what sets me apart is my unique voice, my versatility and my positivity. You never know exactly what kind of song you’re going to get from me in terms of topic. I touch on all different types of things but never shooting, killing or hate. My clothing is all quality and includes a heart which represents love. I think of my clothing as everytime I sell an Item that person is showing love and I also show it back
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was shy but outgoing at the same time, always smiling or laughing or trying to make someone laugh. I was really into sports. I played soccer, Basketball, football, lacrosse, cross country and track. That was my life, that was all I did and wanted to do. When I got to high school, it was the same except I only played basketball, football and track. I ended up sticking with track post-high school and competed four years at the D2 level.
