Check Out Junior Alex’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Junior Alex.

Hi Junior, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I first started creating music in the summer of 2018. That summer, myself and two friends of mine went to a concert that was out in our area, LA and was called “The World Domination” Tour which had artists like Juice Wrld, Lil Mosey, Cordae and Blake performing. This was the second concert I’ve ever had been to at the time but the first concert where I actually knew some of the artists. To cut to the chase while seeing these artists for example Juice Wrld and Lil Mosey perform it really just gave me a sense of inspiration and drive that I could do something just as great or even greater than what these young individuals were doing. The energy and the atmosphere of the crowd really even fueled my drive for it more. I wanted to be something. I wanted to be a star, I wanted to showcase my own art and be appreciated for it… that’s what really started my burning desire for music.

After that day, I was looking into mics that I could save up and buy, how to use my voice correctly and etc., I had no background of music whatsoever. Unless it was me dancing to the tunes I had no clue on how everything else was being produced… pretty crazy how it attracted me though right? I had recently got kicked out of the school I was enrolled in later on that summer as well because of my grades not meeting the requirements. I remember being pretty bummed out about it because at the time I had a girlfriend there, but going through that tough time really allowed me to just get that extra push to say, “you know what? I’m just gonna do it.” It gave me a different perception on the situation I was going through and now I’m here more than two years in… with a whole different outlook on music, a whole different outlook on life and with over 700,000 streams on SoundCloud… That’s just what the universe does for you.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t believe in fairytales, I only believe in truth and reality… and in truth and reality it’ll never be a smooth or easy ride. It’s just not meant to be that way, everyone has their own struggles and failures built for them so they can be prepared for what or where they will be at in the next month or six months or year. Everything is a learning process and without a bumpy road or without losses there’s nothing for us to gain from. I’d say some of my struggles along my music journey has mainly just been mental ones besides the failure we’ve all gotten through, we all have that voice in our head that can manipulate us into staying lazy or staying comfortable or telling us things that we are not and I think that throughout the year of 2020 I was getting a little too lost inside of the emotions and the thoughts of doubt and fear so it started having a physical impact on me.

In these cases, it would be me not doing something because I was worried of other’s views on it or me not dropping a dope song because ‘it wasn’t good enough.” If you’re affected mentally, you will start becoming affected physically as well. I used to get super stressed out about when my time will come or stress out about when will one of my songs finally pop off or when will people know about me but now I’m just focused on creating great music and doing the best I can throughout this whole journey because just like Kendrick Lamar says “you know careers take off, just gotta be patient.” And he’s right!!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Musician, an Artist, a Content Creator and an Electrician 5 days out of the week. I create music that fits into the genres of Hip-Hop, Rap, Pop, Alternative & many more. I like to expand my sound and stay versatile but I’d say what I specialize in is Hip-Hop and Pop music. Thanks to my dad though, if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t have the sauce or ear I got for music that I have now and that’s 100% a fact. I am most proud of my growth over these past two years of doing music, I’ve definitely evolved from where I started and now I see the bigger picture, I’m happy to be where I’m at in this point of my career. I know what I gotta do, and now it’s just about staying focused and grounded throughout the working process. The three singles that have taken off of mine are “Mood Swings”, “What If I Told You” & “Na Na Na”, which have all three been calculated up to over 420 thousand streams and still counting. I think what sets me apart from others is my ability to lead and be there for others, I think we all see this world in different and unique eyes but it’s just about how you use that vision. I’m a unique person, I don’t really have to or like to talk about what makes me different or what sets me apart from others because at the end of the day, my true natural self will show… you guys will know.

How do you think about happiness?
What makes me most happy is being grounded and in alignment with where I need to be and the universe. I love focusing on myself and finding ways to empower myself whether that’s with wisdom or practices that I participate in for my health, so just receiving reassurance from higher powers telling me, “Hey, you’re on the right path!” is very pleasing and satisfying to me. What makes me happy is taking care of myself within this beautiful planet and discovering new things that I never knew about myself, of course music makes me happy but without the inner work being taken care of, my greatest music isn’t being created. I’d like to look at my music as medicinal for me…
