Today we’d like to introduce you to Buddah Blaze.
Hi Buddah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up primarily in the Baldwin Hills Village (Jungles) until my teenage years. I attended Baldwin Hills Elementary, Paul Revere Middle School and Palisades High 1989. An average student and a good athlete (QB) High school and at West Los Angeles College (WLAC).
Always remain in a brotherhood with my closest friends from childhood. The Righteous Brothers, later changing the name to the Righteous Family. Sharing our common interests of Life, Music and Social Issues we banded together on a musical journey. We were a force on the local Los Angeles underground music scene. Performing at such places as The Good Life, Al’s Bar, The Viper Room, and Club Lingerie to name a few. Joining forces with JMD’s Underground Railroad and The Blackrock Colalition. The Righteous Family produced one Independent CD titled “Bionic” 1996 but as always good things come to an end. Life happens when you have a wife and kids. No regrets at all. Fast forward a decade or more, my passion for music resurfaced with the help of old friends, Guitarist/producer Lee Bone and Singer/Songwriter Dana Earvette and Bassist/Songwriter Lonnie Marshall. Now, “I Be Buddah Blaze” Hip-hop Funkstyler.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Overall, life in general is what you make it. But first, you must understand your position and beware of your opposition. I feel history is extremely important because it can help you have a basis and a point of reference. And with that knowledge, it’s possible to overcome most obstacles. I have faced my own challenges. A ten years marriage that ended in divorce. Dealing with changes of the music industry and the music scene. Trying to find my way in this world after starting over again. As well as understanding that technology can be good for you if you know how to use it to your advantage.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Throughout my years, I’ve worked primarily in the field of Education and Mental Health. Special Needs Educator/ Mental Health Instructor. I truly enjoy being of service to those who are in need. This helps me to grow as a person and have a deeper appreciation and understanding of Life. I’m mostly proud of my two daughters and their growth. College graduates who are outstanding young women. Multifaceted just like their Dad…lol. What sets me apart from others is my experience. I have been blessed to encounter so many good and interesting people in my life. And I try to learn something new everyday!
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Kurtis Blow said it best, “And these are the breaks” I know that things happen for a reason whether good or bad. I don’t equate things to good luck or bad. What I get back is what I put in. Most areas of business depend on who is in control. So in other words, you have to make your own way!
