Good morning Charis, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
A recent moment that made me feel incredibly proud was walking the runway for Tony Vincente, the visionary designer behind the luxury fashion house Rossario George. It was such an honor and a beautiful continuation of our partnership, which was featured by outlets including KTLA5 and the Associated Press under the headline, “Iconic Celebrity Charis Michelsen Partners with Rossario George to Redefine Beauty in a Groundbreaking 2025 Campaign.”
Our collaboration began with a beauty campaign celebrating Tony’s exquisite makeup palettes, which I had the privilege of starring in. Seeing his breathtaking designs come to life on the runway was deeply moving, knowing how much heart, artistry, and devotion he poured into each piece. When the audience erupted in applause during the finale, I felt immense pride — both for Tony and for the privilege of contributing to the extraordinary Rossario George legacy.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Thank you so much for this wonderful interview! I’m Charis Michelsen — an actress, model, author, inventor, TV host, and creative entrepreneur working at the intersection of Hollywood entertainment, beauty, fashion, and technology.
My journey began in New York City, where I attended Parsons School of Design and The New School to pursue fashion design. After being scouted by a Harper’s BAZAAR photographer, my path shifted in front of the camera — modeling for brands such as GAP, Levi’s, Tommy Hilfiger, and Pepsi, and appearing on the pages and covers of magazines such as Glamour, People, Paper, and Seventeen. I later transitioned into acting after landing a role from my very first audition, which led to a leading role in the same producers’ next film. From there, I went on to appear in acclaimed projects including High Art, Wonder Boys, and Martin Scorsese’s Bringing Out the Dead, alongside incredible talents like Robert Downey Jr., Nicolas Cage, and Michael Douglas.
Over time, my curiosity about what truly defines beauty inspired me to invent the world’s first science-based Universal Beauty Standard System™ — a breakthrough that led to the creation of my AI Stylist, a technology that provides personalized style guidance more precise than traditional celebrity styling, while celebrating individuality and self-expression. I also authored and self-illustrated two comprehensive coffee table-style beauty books — Hollywood Beauty: The Art of Star Makeup and Grooming for Men: Dirty to Polished — both designed to help readers bring out their best selves through expert, accessible techniques.
Beyond that, I’ve served as CEO of beauty and skincare lines, created beauty, fashion, and Hollywood-oriented television shows connected to a legendary Hollywood establishment, which I’m hosting, and designed a patented signature pattern featuring innovative color technology that allows consciously crafted fashion pieces from my line to effortlessly complement a wide range of looks. Soon, I’ll be launching the Fashion Style Beauty Network, an online hub — and the home of my AI Stylist — dedicated to innovation, inspiration, and connection across the fashion and beauty industries.
I’ve been deeply honored to receive international recognition — from being called “The Thomas Edison of Fashion and Beauty” by Huffmag Magazine, to “Hollywood’s timeless icon of beauty, fashion, and innovation” by The Hollywood Magazine, and one of GQ’s “Top 10 Public Figures to Follow in 2025.” As Vogue beautifully noted, I “don’t just influence culture — I construct it.” That sentiment perfectly captures my mission: to blend art, science, and heart in redefining beauty in a more inclusive, empowering, and forward-thinking way.
Right now, I’m continuing to build projects that merge creativity with consciousness — developing new beauty technologies, expanding my product lines, and producing shows that celebrate innovation, authenticity, and the ever-evolving spirit of Hollywood.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I was twelve years old — the youngest recipient of a prestigious athletic award in my home state of Oregon. That year, I set a women’s record for the fastest 800-meter race ever run in the state and remained undefeated while competing. I remember reading a book on running that introduced me to techniques for breathing and pacing, which I believe played a significant role in my success.
That experience shaped me profoundly. It taught me that with the right mindset, strategy, and dedication, anything is possible. It was my first true moment of feeling powerful — realizing that discipline and focus could transform a goal into reality. That lesson has stayed with me ever since and continues to guide me in every area where success is desired.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You’re going to achieve and experience more than you could ever dream or imagine. Enjoy the beautiful journey, and no matter what obstacles arise, never give up — you’ll overcome them all.

Yes, the public version of me is entirely authentic — perhaps a touch more polished, with a bit more makeup and a pair of heels, but still very much me.

I hope people remember me for having made a positive difference in their lives — for leaving behind timeless tools that empower others to improve their lives, build confidence, and realize their full potential.
