Meet Lucia Brizzi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucia Brizzi.

Lucia, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I wanted to be an actor/comedian before the words had been defined for me. I got attention as a child for my Al Bundy impression-drinking soda out of chilled beer mug with one hand in my pants saying “football”. I was hooked from there.

Training:
Actor training since I could articulate the want! Started as a child, did countless plays as part of a young actors company at Luna Stage in NJ. Went to governor’s school for theater, NCSA summer session, studied theater at Sarah Lawrence and BADA, and at Michael Chekhov Acting Studio in NY. Started improv w greats like Gary Austin, David Razowski, and Rachel Hamilton starting at 15 years old. I’ve been training for the past six years under John Gilkey of Cirque du Soleil and working with clown based comedy.

As far as a coach, I’m a certified coach with the Neuroleadership group and have been practicing in the corporate sphere with Next Level Leadership (www.the-next-level.com) for the past ten years. My current work brings my comedy and coaching work together as satirical cult leader Talia Brava.

At Sarah Lawrence, I studied theater and literature.

My comedy has always come out of self-reflection- so naturally, I would satirize what I do!

People are kinda all I really care about at the end of the day- ie when I can see beyond my own addiction to productivity 😉 Fascination with people is the driver behind all of my endeavors- even solo work- as self-reflection is born of the same impulse.

Talia Brava’s origin:
My mom is a coach so I was born into a world of personal development. Right out of college, I started working for her and simultaneously put up a blog as a satirical life coach. She said it was a “fireable offense”- so- young and dumb- I took it down. Years later after seeing the Tony Robbins doc- “ I Am Not Your Guru” I had the inspiration for a comedy show where I play an arrogant idiot who saw the doc and can now use all the techniques to fix people. I love the idea of transformation as a magic trick- that only works if both parties- guru and client BELIEVE. The project grew and the character took on her own life and evolution. After a hard break up, I leaned more into spirituality and so did she. As my personal development has progressed she’s been alongside me getting it wrong and fucking it up. The alter ego gives me permission to voice the impulses not suitable for work- or life. The bad thoughts that spring up, the dark evil coil of envy rage and desire to make oneself a God— all that shadow shit has found a Sperfect (spiritual perfect) outlet. I’ve always used comedy for this. When I was a kid, I had an alter “Lucinda” who – as my mom pointed out- was just me being a bitch. Like the blog– she put a stop to that one too.

Lucia is the light. Talia is what’s hiding underneath. Talia is the shit in the way of acting and being love. Lucia tries very hard to be a giver in this world. I guess… it exhausts her?

What else should we know about you and your work?
I stand for freedom, love, and infinite potential. So… that.
I love being on stage at an unreal level. It’s another universe where I am totally free.

To switch from Talia back to Lucia:
I often need a shower, a saging, and a hot yoga class after an intensive Talia experience to remind myself of who I am/ dust off any residual shame from being such a monster.

Self-work and coaching:
Self-reflection never ceases to circle right back out to my coaching and training work. Maybe because… we’re all made of the same stuff. Currently, my self-work is meditation, mindful movement, daily journaling and EFT tapping.

Pipeline for 2020:
Preparing for Bravadence Rapture Nov 3rd, 2020. www.taliabrava.com for ticket. Monthly chapter of Talia’s scripture- The Book of Brava- are going out to Patreons up until then. On Nov 3rd, 2020, we’ll have cultmunity Book Release/Rapture party and then- IF Talia has her first complete orgasm- we all rapture home to her planet Bravadence. ALSO! Just announced that Talia will be releasing her first pop album: Talia Brava: Appropriations on that day. So, lots of work to do as she and I have no musical abilities. And I want a van for the last few months up until Rapture with a pulpit to build cultmunity across America. Leads?
