An Inspired Chat with Matthew Silberman of Woodland Hills

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Matthew Silberman. Check out our conversation below.

Matthew, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Without a doubt, my amazing 2 year old daughter. She is the light of my life and makes staying motivated very easy.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Matthew Silberman, aka Narducci. I am a composer, producer, saxophonist, and sound designer, and have my own studio, DeSoto Sound Factory.

Los Angeles born and based, composer, producer, and saxophonist I have composed for award-winning feature and short films on Apple TV and Amazon Prime, lauded podcasts by Cosby Show producer Ehrich Van Lowe and NY Times bestselling author Seth Abramson, video games, and companies such as Zoom and BET.

As an artist, my music has been played on KCRW, Dublab, and other domestic and international radio stations, and written about in Downbeat, Jazz Times, StereoFox, and many more.

I have performed internationally and worked with artists such as Miguel, Daron Malakian [System of a Down], Warren Cuccurullo [Duran Duran/Frank Zappa], and Peter Erskine among many others.

As an engineer and sound designer, I have worked with Billy Idol, Bilal, Dweezil Zappa, Yoshiki, as well as NVidia, CBS, LEGO, Royal Caribbean, and Project Greenlight.

“One of those artists who is not afraid to explore what music can become, while utilizing what music already is.” -Jazz Times

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful, in a musical sense at least, was as a 5th grader, performing a solo rendition of Duke Ellington’s “”Don’t Get Around Much Anymore.” The feeling of inspiring an affecting an audience was amazing, and is something I still love, cherish, and strive for to this day.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I think feeling like I’m not good enough has been the thing that has held me back the most in life. I would have played better, made/released more records, shown up at more events/shows, etc. I think I would have done a lot more in my career if I had more confidence, less of a feeling of being not good enough.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
I’m committed to growing, improving, and evolving as an artist and musician. It’s a life-long process. I’m committed to it until I die. I will always strive to make better music than I have, and to reach for something new, fresh, unique, every time I can.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m composing, producing, performing, praying/meditating, and spending time with my family and friends,
