Carolyn, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I wake up and let my cat in for the day and drink my lemon water. Then I do my morning face regimen (gua sha, serums, etc), do some stretching and then make my breakfast. I have my breakfast while watching a morning show and then I start to dig into my emails and work.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a latina travel and cooking show host, media personality, vegan chef, functional holistic nutritionist, author, speaker and consultant for a wide variety of brands, hotels, airlines, cruise lines, theme parks, restaurants and more. I launched The Healthy Voyager, a vegan travel show, in 2006. Since then, I have published 4 vegan cookbooks, have been a national media personality in the field of healthy travel and vegan cooking for many talk shows and programs, have my own line of vegan grab n go meals called Healthy Voyager Cafe available at airports, the Healthy Voyager line of holistic supplements as well as a health app and travel app in addition to my brand website www.HealthyVoyager.com .
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The grinder and over achiever. It definitely served its purpose but for some time now I’ve let that go knowing that working just to work and burn out is no way to create and truly move the needle. I am so much happier, healthier and more balanced allowing myself to rest and not feel like I need to be productive 24/7.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
To relax and not overdo everything. I always used to feel like I had to do everything to be successful to the point of burnout. Lots of stress for no reason and I would absolutely tell my younger self to chill!
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
I smell fads a mile away. I am a self proponent of how there is no one size fits all lifestyle, solution, diet, timeline, thought process, etc for myself or anyone and feel that we all need to find what works best for us and not what society or instagram ads tell us ; )
