Meet One of Sephora’s Top Makeup Artists: Julie Taing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Taing.

Julie had participated in various dance related activities all throughout high school and developed a passion for costume and makeup design.  However, she was academically talented, and went to college and graduated with a degree in marketing rather than pursuing makeup professionally after high school.  Fortunately, she didn’t lose touch with makeup during college because she took a part time job with Sephora.   Upon graduating in 2008 she had to decide between pursuing her passion for makeup or taking a more traditional route.  The timing of her graduation coincided with the Credit Crisis of 2008 and so as destiny would have it, Julie decided to pursue her passion for makeup rather than enter a depressed corporate job market.

She successfully tried out for the Sephora Pro Lead Artist team, an exclusive group of 15 international artist that represent Sephora globally, in 2008 and from then on her career has been on fire.  She has worked with celebrities, she’s been featured in the press and she continues to do some consumer work (Bridal, etc) as well.   In speak with her we were blown away by her level of professionalism (clearly the marketing experience came in handy) and by her drive to pursue her passion and constantly get better at her craft.
