Meet Patrick Shatter of Southern California

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Shatter

Hi Patrick, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, I’m Patrick. For the past 15 years, I’ve immersed myself in the world of health and fitness. My journey began with weight training and bodybuilding, which I dedicated myself to for a decade. About six years ago, I discovered yoga and found it to be an incredible blend of physical and mental challenges that I truly enjoyed. I’ve explored various styles of yoga along the way. Additionally, I engage in the circus arts, combining my athleticism with performance.

As an entrepreneur, I founded a company called Rockstar in a Jar. We specialize in a unique nut butter spread that combines peanuts, cashews, and coconut. Our spreads come in three delectable dessert-inspired flavors: Birthday Cake, Cinnamon Roll, and Cookies & Cream. They are high in protein, low in sugar, and suitable for vegans. We travel to festivals throughout California, sharing our one-of-a-kind Rockstar experience while offering our scrumptious spreads. I’ve also partnered with several well-known brands, including UFC GYM, 24 Hour Fitness, Orange Theory Fitness, Halo Top, and Kodiak Cakes. Additionally, we offer private label services, helping clients develop and manufacture products while providing our branding and business expertise.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Embarking on the journey to carve out your own unique path is no easy feat. The excitement of envisioning your dreams and the life you desire can be exhilarating, yet the road to achieving those dreams is often riddled with obstacles. The reason you might not be living the life you aspire to is simply that you may lack direction, and I can relate—I was once in the same boat. However, what propelled me forward was my determination and enthusiasm to persist. Not everything you attempt will succeed, and that’s perfectly okay; failure is a key component of learning. In the realm of science, we embrace failures as opportunities to gather information and adjust our methods. We tend to be forgiving of ourselves in those situations. But when it comes to our personal aspirations, we often interpret setbacks as indicators that we’re not meant for success. I’ve come to realize that my mindset has shaped my current reality. To transform your life, you must first transform your thinking. Your journey will continually present challenges, designed to test your resolve and commitment to your goals. The daily grind may not sparkle with excitement as you might imagine. Each time you face an obstacle, ask yourself, “Am I willing to invest what it takes to overcome this?” because everything comes at a cost. Desiring something is free, but achieving it demands effort.

The investment you need to make can take many forms: time, energy, finances, or even emotional resilience. It’s vital to understand that every stride you take towards your dream requires you to put something of value on the line. This is where the difference between wanting and doing becomes essential. It’s simple to express a desire for success, but are you ready to commit to the hard work and perseverance that it entails?

As you encounter challenges, moments of self-doubt are bound to arise. You may find yourself questioning your path or your abilities to reach your objectives. This uncertainty is a natural part of the process. Instead of letting these doubts hinder your progress, harness them as motivation to push yourself forward. When faced with setbacks, take a moment to extract lessons from those experiences. Each failure offers a chance to learn, helping you refine your strategy and build your resilience.

Additionally, surrounding yourself with a network of supportive individuals can have a profound impact. Seek out mentors, friends, or peers who share your aspirations. Their support can uplift you during challenging times, and their experiences can impart valuable lessons you may not have considered. Remember, you are not navigating this journey alone; many others have faced similar hurdles and emerged stronger.

Don’t forget to celebrate the small wins along the way. Every bit of progress, no matter how insignificant it may seem, is movement toward your goal. Recognizing these achievements will not only boost your spirits but also reinforce your dedication to your objectives. It is these incremental victories that generate momentum and sustain your motivation when challenges arise.

In the end, success hinges on your perseverance and adaptability. The path may be unclear at times, and you may feel adrift. But as long as you remain open to learning, willing to adjust your approach, and committed to moving forward, you are already on the right track. Embrace the challenges, invest in your journey, and remember that the process of achieving your dreams is just as meaningful as the dreams themselves.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a multifaceted artist and entrepreneur, immersed in the captivating realms of circus arts and innovative product development. My performances showcase a range of talents, including hand balancing, contortion, juggling, and cyr wheel, and I continuously seek to expand my skill set through ongoing training. In addition to my artistic pursuits, I operate a nut butter brand called Rockstar in a Jar, where I specialize in crafting unique formulations and products. I believe that any idea can be transformed into reality, from the initial blend to the final packaging. One of my standout creations is the Power Sticker—a special sticker you place on your forehead that delivers an instant 20% boost of positive energy.

I feel fortunate to have collaborated with many remarkable individuals throughout my journey. Each partnership has enriched my experience and allowed me to engage in a variety of exciting projects.

What sets me apart in this creative landscape is my deep understanding of how things function and how people behave. Far too often, individuals are sold products without a genuine assessment of their needs. I advocate for a personalized approach, recognizing that a tailored experience can create a profound impact. To achieve significant results, it’s essential to engage multiple senses and evoke strong emotions.

This philosophy is woven into everything I create, whether it’s a circus performance or a new product launch. When I perform, I strive to deliver an immersive experience that captivates my audience, utilizing visuals, sounds, and movement that resonate on a deeper level. Likewise, with Rockstar in a Jar, I focus on more than just the taste and quality of my nut butter; I also emphasize the packaging, branding, and overall experience of enjoying the product. I want my customers to feel energized and inspired the moment they encounter the jar.

Networking and collaborating with fellow artists and entrepreneurs have been pivotal in my growth. The exchange of ideas and fresh perspectives fuels an atmosphere of creativity and innovation.

I am also passionate about giving back to the community. There’s immense satisfaction in witnessing others flourish, and it reinforces my commitment to cultivating a creative environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

As I continue to evolve both as an artist and an entrepreneur, I remain focused on my vision: to inspire others to follow their passions and to create performances and products that leave a lasting mark. Whether through circus acts that challenge physical limits or nut butter that supports a healthy lifestyle, my goal is to spread positivity and energy in all my endeavors. The future is bright with endless possibilities, and I eagerly anticipate the next chapter of my journey.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Life is inherently filled with risks. Many individuals perceive the pursuit of their dreams as a gamble. Recent years have illustrated that nothing is ever certain and that the notion of safety is often just a mirage. In my view, the greatest risk one can take is to live a life filled with regret. When discussing this topic, it’s rarely about life-or-death scenarios; rather, it’s the fears that linger in our minds, trying to dissuade us from taking action. The negative messages we’ve absorbed from others over the years tend to resurface when we contemplate pursuing our aspirations. This highlights the importance of surrounding ourselves with supportive individuals and being mindful of the content we consume. Whenever I find myself pondering, “What’s the worst that could happen?” I realize that the worst-case scenario is simply that things may not turn out as planned. In that case, all I’ve lost is some time, while gaining valuable experiences. It’s crucial to remember that no one excels at something right from the start, and most people don’t reveal their challenges. With patience, practice, and the right guidance, you will gradually find your way. The key distinction between you and someone who is living your dream is that they chose to take the leap, while you hesitated.
