Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Farahirad
Hi Daniel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My Dad and brother started a small shop in downtown LA back in 2011 more of a passion project for restoring vintage road bikes and then it turned into the fixie/bmx headquarters and friendliest shop in town for city and road cyclists. Over the years Giant, Brompton, Retrospec, Onwheel and Fliteboard to name a few have been top partners of Just Ride in the US. we were one of the very first stores and still continue to carry Onewheels, electric scooters, electric bikes, and electric hydrofoils. known for being LA l’s land and water, adventure junkie headquarters! Not to mention our growing Just Foil LA eFoil school as well that launched at the end of 2019 very first in California and one of the very first in the world
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
A smooth Road would be amazing, but that’s not the case we’ve been through lots of ups and downs with some of our best years during Covid and also some of our hardest this last two but we are still family owned and here to stay for years to come! We underwent a massive remodel this year, which has been getting a lot of love from the community in LA and greater of as the headquarters for city and road cycling along top Brompton partner in the US. The battle of competing with online stores and price cuts with rising costs is a continued battle.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We love to get people in motion, whether it’s a bicycle, electric scooter, Brompton folding bike or a flying fliteboard to connect people back with nature. Many brands have lost their sense of touch with the community as they focus on profits where our entire focus is keeping people stoked with the best tools possible in one spot!
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
The saying goes, the greater the risk the greater the reward. I’m all about taking calculated risks and Fliteboard is one of the greatest examples. A flying surfboard that is powered by a battery and a motor ? Who would’ve thought they were so easy to learn on and the quickest way to get into hydrofoiling. Most people would call me nuts, especially as they used to start at $15,000 for one board but foiling has only changed my life along with many others and now we have an offering starting at 7K. Brompton folding bicycles is another great example really weird looking bikes that start at $1800 who would ever ride those things fast-forward eight years later to today and we are one of the largest partners in the US and globally because we love their bikes so much for city, living and world travel. We have multiple Brompton and road rides/events every month!
