Check Out Monika Demmler’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monika Demmler

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started making music as a little girl, growing up in a little village close to Munich, Germany. I tried to learn as many instruments as I could – I basically lived my dream artist life as a little kid. Later on, I went different roads, went to university and got back into music with my PhD (Ecology and Blues, Jazz and Hip-Hop Music in African-American Prose Fiction) as well as a car accident on the German autobahn, via the latter I ended up in California where I live now.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The struggles along the way are defined by living in a society that is being pulled into shape by outdated systems.
The challenges are currently in the transformation or transcendence of outdated forms which we are going through. Every change, especially birth, is marked by “pain.” Prevailing populism is a dangerous environment we live in. Artists, whose task it is to mirror current circumstances and provide guidance in the best way possible, create their own cosmos of creation and survival.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I write music, dj, paint, etc. I’m most proud of creating my own way of living as an artist and attempting to transcend styles. What sets me apart from others might be having lived in different parts of the world, and I guess my PhD.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Patience, Kindness and Faith. Despite gloom looming on the horizon, we are all interconnected as human beings. After every catastrophe, beauty follows according to natural/ecological laws. In our times, it is important to believe, have faith and be patient to see a positive outcome. Kindness spreads and a small amount can move mountains within the greater picture.
