Rising Stars: Meet Shawn Legends of Lancaster

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawn Legends

Hi Shawn , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The story & the journey of how I started is truly a phenomenal & inspiring one. In August of 2022 when I was at my lowest point in life, I discovered my passion & started culinary school at College of the Canyons in Valencia, Ca. As I was in class I was thinking of how I can make my future better, kickstart my career rather than waiting for my certificate. I always thought of selling food & opening restaurant, then it hit me!. With my new skills developing in culinary school & my 10 years of fast food experience, I thought to myself fine dining catering. Show everyone all the cultures of different food with a wow factor added to every dish, following authentic recipes & making it as if your grandmother made it. My only problem with my great ideas & concepts, what could I think of to allow my guests to not be able to predict my menu but making it so diverse that any new food ideas won’t be all the table, no pebble unturned. After thinking very hard on it, it finally hit me “Infinity” , I now have the leverage to become who I truly want & meant to be. Fast forward to today I now up to 12 amazing crew members that are all very unique & diverse themselves. Putting in work & going to school through the entire process. Now there’s no events we turn down, travel to any location & we continue to grow our passion in what we love to do & who we love to do it with. We are Yesterday, We are Today, We are Tomorrow, We are Infinity

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
To be honest for the most part the road has been smooth, but we have had a lot of bumps along the way. Consistent small one like an old neighborhood road. Also me personally going through my own issues at the time made me feel as if I was on autopilot, I almost felt like a robot sometimes. I would get up 5am go to the gym, then school, then work (Manager at Five guys) & events on the weekends. The biggest problem I had was being organized & realize a time & place for everything & to slow down. Now I’m more focused & goal oriented & connected & present with my team. I wouldn’t have change these things for nothing because they made me who I am today now the road is starting to feel like the freeway. As far as clients & guest we are blessed to not have had bad reviews & too much struggles that we didn’t overcome or learn from. What doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Well we are a Catering company inspiring to be a fine dining establishment one day to aim for a Michelin Star. We offer catering, private dinners, meal preps & instructing. We specialize in international cuisine & pastries, we try to & have made just about a little bit of everything. This is one of the traits that separates us from everyone else, nothing is off the table we are willing to learn any & everything to meet our guests expectations & needs. My team has one of the best customer service! Such out going & respectful individuals, always engaging & giving out exceptional service.
We have been known for getting second place in our first bbq competition, we are also known for being culinary students who joined together & create a brand new company while still being in school. My biggest favorite trait, is we make just about everything from scratch, sauces, dressings, pastries, drinks, etc….. we go the mile to make sure everyone gets that new amazing taste & experience.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Yes! I do wish to give acknowledgment for all the businesses that survived & didn’t. That was such a touch time for the economy, luckily we were fortunate to have started after. One thing forsure is , it made me more vigilant & aware how unexpected things can happen. Never take any moment for granted good or bad.
