Hi Chloë Julianne, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
From an early age, I was captivated by the world of musicals, performing whenever I had the chance. My first professional experience in entertainment came when I became a can-can and parade dancer at the theme park Knott’s Berry Farm. Despite this exciting start, I initially pursued a different path, studying education in Arizona and working in higher education. However, the pull of storytelling and creativity eventually brought me back to California, where I embraced my passion for a career in film.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Everything was going to plan and looked great on paper. I had a flourishing career as a teacher and working in higher education, I achieved my Master’s in Leadership, bought a house, and I married the love of my life. Yet, I knew that teaching in the traditional classroom was leaving a pit in my stomach everyday that I was in the wrong place. I entertained the idea that maybe, the “impractical dream” of teaching through telling stories wasn’t something I should only think about as I drifted off to sleep. With the support of my number one fan, my husband, and dear friends and family; we hustled and paid off $42,000 of debt in one year (college loans/consumer debt) so we could have financial freedom, sold our house in Arizona, and moved to California.
We packed our 2003 Toyota Camry full of stuff + our cat, and drove off into a new adventure.
Vocal Nodes! Have you ever heard of them?
While teaching I began to lose my voice multiple times a week, taste blood (TMI, sorry), and have a sore throat all the time. The doctors told me that if I kept teaching I would eventually not be able to sing, and possibly need surgery. Being a musical theater kid and multiple national champion in speech and debate, I was in shock. For years I went into vocal rest, no singing and or raising my voice. After speech therapy and daily vocal warm-ups, now I am able to use my voice more than ever before. As a result of this experience, I have gained a deep appreciation for the privilege to steward my voice for art that matters, reminding people that their lives matter, and for telling my family and friends I love them.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As an actor, I specialize in teaching through storytelling.
I’m passionate about the experience of the audience and see stories as a powerful tool for learning and growth. Whether it’s helping people develop empathy, offering them a moment of escape through laughter, or encouraging emotional literacy, I believe stories are an essential way to connect us.
What sets me apart as a triple threat (singer, dancer, actor) is my focus on stewarding stories with delicate care, understanding the responsibility we have as actors to honor the messages behind them. In addition, my background in improv empowers me to embrace the power of teamwork of an acting ensemble and to be unabashedly committed to the scene (no matter how silly or serious it may get). I’m most proud of the moments when my work resonates deeply with an audience, sparking reflection or providing a meaningful experience.
