Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Hoey
Hi Chelsea, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Being around creative artisans I thrive to be unique and showcase my passion for art, music and creating a community. Working in the festival industry sparked my drive to create a space where one can gather to network, see unique handmade creations, art, food, entertainment and socialize with others in the community. Being a creative myself I wanted a challenge and a outlet to showcase my work. I did this by starting and finally creating a long time passion of handmade organic candles and cleansing products creating Lucerne Lucinda Candles. This lead me to create Chelsss Creates Lucerne Lucinda, emphasizing on event planning where I find a local business and convert their area into a themed Pop Up Event, brining local vendors and artists to one location for the community to come join and support small businesses.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My journey with creating this idea started in 2022, determined to make this come to life I hosted my first pop up event in March 2023. As a beginner entrepreneur all I wanted was to create a space where people could come and enjoy themselves and bring some light to all these talented individuals I have connected with. I prosper to make genuine connections with others and really do care to help people advance in their skill and in overall life. I have been lucky to have a great outreach and success with bringing people together at my pop up events. In the beginning there was a lot of investment and free labor on my end (and my partner, bless his soul) and tremendous amount of work since I was handling everything on my own there wasn’t much profit for myself but seeing the vendors succeed with sales and networking is why I created this space. Its not about me but about what we create and the people who enjoy it. The first struggle was creating that connection with people to come have them be part of my events, especially over social media, you don’t always get to connect or hear back from many people. This lead to me going to many different type of events and connecting with people in person which in light is a positive because I thrive with in person interactions.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My professional creative journey started with working festivals and events in 2021 with Live Nation. I have always had a love for music and art and being able to be on the other side of the festival and be the creator was so magical and sparked my passion for creating events. Working as a freelancer in the event industry I gained a lot of experience in event management, guest services, decor, on-site building and more with both Front Of House and Back Of House roles. This gave me the well rounded experience of both types and sides of festival work and gave me the confidence to start my own brand of Lucerne Lucinda Pop Up Events. I started with making my brand focusing on my other passion of healing and making handmade organic candles infused with essential oils. I love helping support other creatives and making my Lucerne Lucinda Candles was a way for me to express my love with healing properties within a personal product I was making with only positive intentions and prosperity. So now I have this product I want to bring to the community and what better way to put my two passions together but to create Pop Up Events supporting local artist and vendors. I wanted to create a community of creative people who can support, network, showcase their talents and overall make a space were like minded artisans could come together to have a great experience. I wanted to create a more personal and intimate experience, not your typical farmer market or vendor market, my goal was to build a community and show these creatives that I care and lets all work and help each other. Being passionate about my events and bringing the community together is what thrives me to be better and as I come close to my 2 year mark of hosting and event planning Lucerne Lucinda Pop Up Events I am excited to see the future and continuation of our local creative community and cant wait to watch it grow even more!
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I want to continue creating intimate pop up events but in addition I want to create larger events to grasp a bigger community outreach and collaborate it with a nonprofit organization connected with music, art and our youth/ young adults, this is something I plan to achieve with in the next five years. Another five year goal is to bring my brand to music festivals where I can showcase my building, decor and overall event planning skills and keep elevating a space for all to enjoy.
