Inspiring Conversations with Marissa Cervantes Ayala of SuperA+ Tutoring

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marissa Cervantes Ayala

Hi Marissa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
In the early stage of my business, I was a mobile tutoring service and served the Los Angeles area. I would drive hours to reach my students, I met them at heir house, a coffee shop or a library. My main focus was to help as many children. In 2015, I expanded and opened an office in the city of Inglewood. This was the center point for my students.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a rollercoaster of a journey. When I moved to Inglewood many things did not worked. Some of my students were not able to get to my office. After 6 months in the office I had to closed it down because a safety building code. This was really hard time for me, because with in moth of loosing the office my mother passed away. I lost everything. Three month later my students convinced me to return. I had to start all over again from my garage.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about SuperA+ Tutoring ?
Super A+ Tutoring stepped up by offering tutoring in-person and online I am passionate about helping children by offering a support system that consists of group sessions as well as one-on-one tutoring because, like me, they too are often the first in their family to navigate the educational pipeline. What makes SuperA+ tutoring is that we do not only help the students, we also help the parents, we become one unit. We do not only tutor, but we introduced the children to different cultural and education field trips. We also created educational workshops. Super A+ Tutoring is reinforcing academic skills and socio- emotional learning because I care about the whole child and reinforce this with my staff.

What matters most to you?
I love my community, this the main thing that matters to me. I have seen how with some help many kids have become better readers or better at math. They become stronger and their self-esteem. I want my students to know that their are capable of becoming what ever they want to be. I want a create of network for them. Sadly in our community the lack of a strong network make our students loose focus. Im currently working to establish a network that will provide support to our student from grade school to higher education.
