Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Fisher.
Angela, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born and raised in Texas and moved out to Los Angeles in 2009. As my first job after the move I worked as a call center representative in a call center in Beverly Hills. I rose to management there quickly, but then departed after only about 6 months. From that stemmed National Recalls. National Recalls is an administrative services company working 100% in the health care industry. We schedule appointments for overdue patients (lost revenue), take incoming phone calls, verify insurance, and confirm existing appointments for medical practices. Our customers are all over the country and across 6 different industries. Our office is location in Hollywood, CA.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road at all. It’s actually been very much like a roller coaster most of the time, but I am learning how to steady the ups and downs.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the National Recalls story. Tell us more about the business.
What we are known for is our recall/reactivation program. This is where we go in and mine the doctor’s database for overdue patients and “Recall” or “reactivate” them by getting them scheduled. This is where we generate revenue for the practice and pay for ourselves.
I’m most proud of my team of people, we’ve all built the company together and each of them individually represent who we are as a company well. They are also what sets us apart from others. Most of the leadership we have are people who have been with the company from the beginning, so they really set the tone at the top and it shows in the work.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
It does seem like a lot of private practice is going corporate or into the hospitals. The mom and pop eye shops for example, I see being purchased more and more into larger networks of practices like My Eye Dr, Vision Source etc. I also see insurance payouts effecting every industry. A lot of practices are beginning to stop taking insurances to make way for cash pay patients because some insurance payouts simply aren’t worth the work. In general, a lot of practitioners are wanting more security in their job and therefore are more willing to either sell their practices to be corporate owned or shift out completely and go work in a hospital.
