Today we’d like to introduce you to Karina Caro.
Karina, founder of Karina Caro Makeup Artistry, has already had a career many MUAs would kill for. After attending the Downey Makeup Academy, she worked with famous clients such as Amanda Cerny and UFC fighter Razor Rob. Her story is one of the most inspiring we’ve come across. Karina grew up as a tomboy in Compton. However, she got her makeup done at a professional stand when she was 15 and when she looked in the mirror she was blown away by her transformation. Her interest in makeup grew as she thought about her love of gory movies and wondered how they did the makeup for those scenes. She read, and read, and read some more.
By 18, she already knew she wanted to pursue makeup and so she enrolled in an academy, went through the course work exceptionally fast and her teachers helped her land some amazing jobs. Soon she caught a big break – working for UFC, and the rest is history. Since then she has rapidly grown her personal brand and is on an unstoppable path.
Her ambition impresses us even more. She is work on establishing her own makeup agency and her longer term goal is to start her own production house with a makeup salon downstairs.
She offers glamour makeup, hair styling, camera ready makeup, special effects, fantasy, character and transformation makeup. She is based in trendy DTLA but works with clients from all over LA. She shared that one of her most unique services is corrective makeup. “Corrective makeup has introduced me to the most unique experiences I have encountered. Many clients have expressed the struggle they face searching for a makeup artist that can work with their unique situation.”
