Meet Jeff Peters of Urban Solar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Peters.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Both myself, Founder and President of Urban Solar, and Garnet Luick, our VP of Operations and Engineering, have worked in the solar lighting industry since 2003. In 2008, Urban Solar was formed with a commitment to reliability and customer service. In nearly 10 years, we have built a solid foundation of customers with more than 8,000 installations worldwide.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. In the early years, we struggled to have our products meet the reliability and performance standards we knew were crucial to our long-term success. But we got there. Today we have an industry leading warranty and third-party safety certification (UL) for every system Urban Solar manufactures.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Urban Solar – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Urban Solar specializes in solar powered LED lighting for transit and area lighting applications.

Urban Solar was founded on the notion of being exclusively dedicated to providing solar lighting for the transportation industry. Our innovative transit-focused designs have set a benchmark in the transportation industry for reliable high-performance solar powered LED lighting solutions.

Governments of all levels are increasing support for public transit projects both in the US and Canada, which makes solar lighting solutions for transit a smart choice for the environment, the economy, and safety. It’s a win-win-win for transit agencies, cities, and passengers.

Now, Urban Solar has expanded into the general illumination space and provides solar LED lighting for commercial applications including parking lots, pathways, roadways, and security lighting.

We are proud to make a difference with a clean and renewable product, and with a growing company that employs people in Canada and the United States directly and indirectly. We are leaders primarily because our team and our commitment to deliver a high quality solar powered LED lighting system backed by exceptional customer service.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
LA is a diverse region that embraces renewable energy and has an abundance of sunshine.

We don’t care for the traffic (who does, really)! But we hope that our transit lighting products make transit more appealing and safer for the average person and we ultimately hope to help get more cars off of the freeways.
