Today we’d like to introduce you to Anindya Ghosh
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my tech career at a small online marketing company in 2005 called 411Web. I moved on from that company to take a job as an advertising operations coordinator at Pricegrabber.com. This is where I experienced one highlight of my career, when I had the opportunity to build out an advertising extension network around 2006-2009. I spearheaded that project by helping our business development team sign deals with publisher partners. I also worked closely with the ad sales team to ensure ad campaign success. The extension network greatly increased our advertising inventory and allowed for the signing of much larger deals.
After leaving Pricegrabber.com; I built out my own small advertising network (called FCI Media), where I resold ads for a few websites. We also published web products for affiliate marketing and provided marketing services. FCI Media was closed in 2013. Soon after that; I was accepted into the Startengine accelerator, where I started Washrunner in 2014. Washrunner is a web-based valet laundry service. Since starting Washrunner, my career has been primarily focused on consumer services. Washrunner currently operates in the Los Angeles area.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No. When I ran FCI Media, we had some money clawed back from us by Google, due to a partner sending us bad quality ad traffic. Eventually when I turned things around and got traction with Washrunner, we were denied a crowdfunding opportunity on Startengine, despite having expected to raise money there. Since then I have had to bootstrap and fund the company on my own.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Washrunner is a valet-laundry service. We pickup laundry from individuals and businesses, and take them to vetted laundromat wash-and-fold services.
We are known for doing a quick, same-day turnaround service.
I am most proud of the fact that we were able to boot strap and survive off of our own revenue, when funding didn’t come through.
We can use the detergent of your choice, or can even use your soap. We can also use hypo-allergenic soap that is scent free to avoid skin irritation.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I believe that having a vision for what customers want is very important. Because, there is so much noise and confusion that a founder experiences during their journey. By having focus on a vision, they can cut through the noise.
